1 Thessalonians 4:13-16
[13] But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
[15] For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
[16] For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday, 25th June, 2026.
Many people, Christians and non-Christians, do not often want to discuss about death. They get so scared when you mention the word. This is simply because nobody desires to die especially because of the pain of leaving their loved ones. Interestingly, whether we like it or not, we are going to die at a time. However, for God's own children, His promise for us is long life. This means that a Christian should live a fulfilled life and return to his Maker at a ripe old age.
Many complain about the world and its woes: economic distress, political woes, natural disasters and much more. Yet, they prefer to remain here, possibly because they assume that there are pleasures. Unfortunately, these pleasures are nothing but vanities. The Preacher, in the first chapter of the book of Ecclesiastes, saw nothing good about life. In spite of his riches, fame, even wisdom and knowledge, he declared that, "all is vanity." It is only at God's right hand that a Christian gets "pleasures for evermore" (Psalm 16:11).
The apostle Paul declared in the scriptures that, to live is Christ but to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). However, the gain he was talking about is only for believers in Christ who will gain heaven at last. Some others ignorantly desire the pleasures of this world more than eternal life. 1 John 2:15-17 summarises the truth neatly, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." The "ever" here refers to those that will reign eternally with Christ.
