[3] By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
[4] By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
[5] By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
[6] But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Seeking is a process of finding or looking for a thing or person. In today's Fire Scripture, the word 'seek' refers to those who are searching for God, with a purpose of knowing Him more and developing an intimate relationship with Him. This kind of seeking is intentionally done with zeal and determination. It is done with an intent to become more like Him and be conformed to His image.

Consequently, God has a way of recognizing His seekers in different categories and for different reasons. It is on this premise that He rewards them. God sees and knows the mind of the seeker, whether it is genuine or not. The Bible talks about those who seek God for their belly's sake; and those who worship Him with their lips but their minds are far from Him. This then means there should be a way to seek God. Not all that seek Him, find Him. Not all that seek Him are diligent in their search, neither do all receive a reward. This is a serious matter.

Do you seek God? Are you complacent or diligent in your seeking? Or, are you just a nominal Christian, one who comes to church to be part of the number, or one who contributes to kingdom service for personal gains and selfish reasons? While it is good to receive the accolades of men, most importantly, you must receive divine recognition. It is only by this heavenly recognition that you know more of Him, and get qualified for His reward.

Beloved, these questions and more call for a deep self-examination. Your responses are to be submitted to the Holy Spirit, Who is the Marker and Judge of our intents. God cannot be mocked. In case you are a true seeker, be more diligent. But, if you are not, start by surrendering your life to Jesus, receive Him as your Lord and Saviour. He will enable you by His Spirit to seek Him more daily and till the end of life and make heaven at last, in Jesus' name.

On a final note, one important lesson to learn from Naaman is his knowledge of spiritual things which seems alien to modern believers. He understood the mystery of the dust, sand and the earth. That is why he asked Elisha for some sand or earth in vs 17 NLT "Then Naaman said, "All right, but please allow me to load two of my mules with earth from this place, and I will take it back home with me. From now on I will never again offer burnt offerings or sacrifices to any other god except the Lord." Naaman seems to understand the mysterious power of the dust for him to have requested it from Elisha. He probably wanted to sprinkle the dust of the land of Israel on around his house and environment either for cleansing and sanitation of his environment or as a warfare weapon against the power troubling his household. Either way, Naaman was a man of understanding.

Beloved, without mincing words, the dust of the earth is a deep weapon of spiritual warfare that has been used overtime by wicked powers against fellow humans. This is one weapon that the enemy has engaged even against the children of God. We need to start engaging these weapons against the enemies of our souls after the order of Moses. The weapon of the dust was used by Moses to fight his enemies. He used it to release the plagues of lice and boils upon the Egyptians. We too can sprinkle the dust on an errand to waste the power that will not allow us to rest.

Hope we know that there are people that press the sand just to kill fellow humans? Dark powers always pay homage to Mother Earth. They programme insanity and all kinds of evil into people's lives through the dust of the earth. We believers must wake up from our slumber and begin to engage the elements to our advantage. The earth has ears, and it can hear us. We need to start commanding it to act accordingly. May God damage our ignorance in the name of Jesus.

Another lesson to learn from Naaman is his character of honour. He honoured God in the life of Elisha, and he never took God's anointed for granted.

After Elisha rejected his gifts, Gehazi felt entitled and ran after Naaman to collect the rejected gifts in the name of his master thus, demeaning the revered man of God in the face of a stranger. When Gehazi told Naaman that his master asked him to collect the gift, if it were to be men of this untoward generation, they would have said derisively, "What was he thinking before that he didn't collect it?" Some would even have gone to social media to accuse the man of being a gift-monger or money-monger. They are so quick to judge men of God. But what was Naaman's response? First, in verse 21, "And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him" Second, in verse 23, "And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him." Note from these two scriptures that Naaman respected Gehazi the way he would have respected Elisha. He saw Gehazi as a representative of Elisha and thus bestowed the same honour on him.

There is an old-time culture that has eroded especially among modern and younger generation of Christians. It is the culture of honour. We no longer honour people. We no longer honour God's anointed men and women again. Now young Christians can look straight in the face of elders that are old enough to parent them and speak trash. Children talk anyhow to adults and some of these children are coming from supposedly Christian homes. Christians now resort to the social media to vent all their anger against the body of Christ. No restraint, no honour. Even the commandment of God that ask us to honour our father and mother has been thrown away through the window. Everyone seems to have thrown caution to the wind. The Bible says in Ephesians 4:20 that "But ye have not so leamed Christ;". This is apparently not the gospel handed to us. We need to get back to the culture of honour.

2 Kings 5:18-19 highlights Naaman's newfound faith in the God of Israel and his desire to worship Him exclusively, while also acknowledging a potential conflict between his loyalty to his boss the Syrian King due to his position as a high-ranking military official who must escort the king everywhere he goes. Naaman therefore requested forgiveness from the Lord in performing his official duties whenever he escorted the king to the temple of Rimmon, and the king leans on him for support while worshipping the idol. He recognized that his presence with the king in the temple of Rimmon could be seen as an endorsement of idolatry. And to his request the Prophet Elisha, a representative and mouthpiece of God responded, "Go in Peace," meaning that God had waived it for him.

Naaman's request for forgiveness is not a sign of backsliding or compromise, but a demonstration of his genuine desire to worship God alone and avoid any actions that might be interpreted as idolatry. His request for forgiveness suggests a sincere heart and a commitment to his newfound faith. He wasn't going back on his decision to follow the true God.

As church leaders, we must be aware that as our new converts are getting to know and get grounded in Christ, the growth of some will be sporadic while some will be slow. The important thing is not to make anyone feel unwanted because of their current level of spiritual understanding. We must create room for growth. This is why I think the prophet gave Naaman a waiver. Genesis 33:13 says, "And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.

The balance is this. If you have been in Christ for sometime and you are still compromising your faith, thinking that because God waived it for Naaman, he would waive for you too, you are very wrong because the foundation of the Lord stands sure. God will never lower his standard for anyone. Also, I need to stress that we must never compare our consecration and life's journey with others because you never can tell the covenant, mercy and grace that is speaking for them.

Another lesson to glean from Naaman is his prompt and firm decision for God. Having seen the difference between the gods he had served for years and the God of the Bible that had healed him within few hours, he decided on that spot to follow the only true God (God of Prophet Elisha).

I heard a story of a woman whose child had been crippled for years, she brought to a crusade organized in Ilorin by a notable man of God (of blessed memory). During ministration, the man of God prayed for the sick and the girl walked. The mother then came the following day to share her testimony. She shared how the girl was able to walk after the prayers of the man of God. But she then added that she was a muslim, that although the God of the Christians had healed her daughter, she still would not yield to Him. And right there, the man of God prayed to reverse the miracle, and it was reversed right there in the full glare of all the people.

Beloved, what am I driving at? Only fools deny proof. Naaman saw a proof of what the Almighty God can do and promptly left his former state of life and decided to follow the true God. Meanwhile, despite the multiple proofs of God's goodness in some people's lives they will never turn to God. To them, it was luck and chance. God even saved some people from tragedies that could have claimed their lives, God in His mercy gave them a second chance to live, but they still would take it for granted until the devil comes to make a mess of them. Some even after receiving miracles from God will go back to give glory to beggarly idols.

Do you know whether God saved you from that accident just so you can decide for Him and be saved from eternal damnation? The miracles God wrought in your life is God's way of calling you to come closer to Him and have a great relationship with Him? He is standing at the door of your heart today. If you hear His voice, don't turn Him away. Surrender your life and all to Jesus today.

Luke 17:12-19
[12] Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.
[13] And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
[14] So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
[15] And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God,
[16] and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
[17] So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?
[18] Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”
[19] And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

Another lesson to learn from Naaman is the fact that he returned to express his gratitude after being healed. 2 Kings 5:15 says "And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant." He was not like the nine lepers in Luke 17:18 that got healing from Jesus and chose to walk away without acknowledging the miracle worker.

It is often so surprising when you see believers going from one programme or the other just to secure God's favour during their moments of needs. They can show a lot of piety and humility when they 'need' God but once they get what brought them to God, you won't see them again until another need arises. They were never ashamed when they were asking God for a blessing but once they get it, they are always shy when it comes to testifying of His goodness. Some even go as far as making vows when they are in distress but once they get what they are looking for, they forget all about the vows. Some others will receive counselling, prayer and breakthrough in a church but go to another to give testimony and thanksgiving offering. That is not the attitude of champions in this kingdom.

Naaman went back to Prophet Elisha to show gratitude and share his testimony. He didn't hide what God did for him. He did not ignore the man of God and just go about his business as if nothing had happened. He was not ashamed to tell the world about the goodness of God to him. He also went with gifts for the man of God. Although Elisha did not collect them, it was credited to Naaman's account by the God that sees all hearts and intents. Naaman seemed to understand a kingdom principle which many of us modern Christians do not seem to understand. This may be the reason why some people are only healed but are not made whole. Beloved, ingratitude is a big menace, and we need to shun it in our lives.
Shalom!

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 26th August, 2026.

There is good in every land. However, whether your own portion of good will come unto you depends on your level of obedience. Every blessing in life is a response to obedience. Every verdict of heaven meant for the excelling of the saints has conditions attached to it. Every promise of God, every prophetic declaration requires the participation of man through obedience to bring the desired results. Life is guided by principles which, if properly applied, will bring the remarkable results.

Naaman at first, did not want to obey the simple instruction proffered by God's servant. He wanted to disobey because the instruction did not go well with him. However, through the intervention of his servants, he obeyed and came back with testimony. Had he totally rejected the counsel of God for his healing, he would have remained a leper for life. But he obeyed and came back healed.

Beloved, obedience brings a blessing. God demands total and prompt obedience from His children. Obedience and faith were the characters that endeared Father Abraham to the heart of God. Even though Abraham did not have a full detail of what God was up to regarding his life, he obeyed still, and he got the promise. How much are we willing to obey God? Almost all the promises of God have conditions attached to them to be obeyed. Some people may be suffering now, not because of satanic attacks but due to their disobedience to God's commandment.

The song writer puts it well in this song:

[9] Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha’s house.
[10] And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”
[11] But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’
[12] Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
[13] And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?”
[14] So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

Another lesson to garner from the life of Naaman is that the things of God must be done the way of God. This implies that divine instructions must be carried out the exact way God wants it. No colouring it, no painting it. Elisha had sent Naaman to wash in the specific River Jordan to be healed of his leprosy, but a very calculative and sophisticated Naaman had sized up the Jordan river in his limited brain and felt it was very disgusting. He even came up with the suggestion of better and more good-looking Syrian rivers where he thought he could wash and be clean. He couldn't discern that not all that glitters on the surface is gold. For every problem in life, there is always a code to its solution. The code for Naaman's healing was in the Jordan River. If he, however, decides to use another code, wash in another river, he would totally be on his own.

The Jordan river may not be good-looking, but God knows that it is the only river that has the prophetic anointing to heal leprosy. The River Jordan is a river that has track record of historic touch with the prophetic. It has a long-standing covenant with God and so has divine deposits in it. The Israelites, under the leadership of Joshua after crossing the river, erected a memorial altar for God made of 12 stones inside the river. Elijah walked through the river on his way to being translated and was translated near that river. Elisha used the mantle of Elijah to part the river when he was retuming from his master's translation. In later years, it was to be the base where John the Baptist conducted baptisms and most importantly, our Lord Jesus Christ was to be baptized in that same river. So, we now know why God chose the seemingly ugly River Jordan for Naaman's healing. Jordan River may not have a very nice container, but it sure has great content. Meanwhile, the Syrian rivers Abana and Pharpar that our brother was suggesting to God might have been infested with several Syrian demons and spiritual dirt of the Syrian idols. But his limited mind could only see the surface.

Beloved, if God gives you specific directions on any aspect of your life, please trust Him.
