Shedding innocent blood means killing people who don't deserve to die. God hates it. Unfortunately, there are many instances of shedding innocent blood in the world today. However, its prevalence doesn't make it acceptable in the sight of God.

Shedding of innocent blood can take different forms. If people are killed because they believe in Jesus, innocent blood has been shed. Also, some wicked governments kill individuals who have opposing views, thus, shedding innocent blood.

Abortion is another common form of shedding innocent blood. When a lady decides to terminate a pregnancy because she doesn't want it, she is shedding innocent blood. These days, it's common to hear people talk about the rights of a woman over her own body. However, the truth remains that you do not own yourself, whether you're a man or a woman. Everyone will give account to God about the way they lived their lives and used their bodies while on earth. And God is definitely not pleased with abortion. Anyone who is involved in aborting a baby be it the woman, the man responsible for the pregnancy, the doctor or practitioner who carries out the procedure - is guilty of shedding innocent blood.

If you are a contractor and you refuse to buy proper materials, you will be guilty of shedding blood if people lose their lives as a result of your carelessness. If, as a nurse, your patients lose their lives because of your lackadaisical attitude, you are guilty of shedding blood. Any action on your part that leads to the death of innocent people makes you guilty in the sight of God. Scripture makes it clear that God hates shedding innocent blood. Anyone who is involved in this sin would be severely punished by God.

Beloved, check yourself today. Is there any area of your life in which you are guilty? Have you directly or indirectly shed blood? Repent and come to the Lord for mercy and let the blood of Jesus speak for you. God bless you, in Jesus' name.

Acts 5:1-11
[1] But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.
[2] And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
[3] But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
[4] While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
[5] Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.
[6] And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.
[7] Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
[8] And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.”
[9] Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
[10] Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.
[11] So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 18th August, 2026.

Lying is another sin that God hates. John 8:44 reveals that lying is a characteristic of the devil who is the father of lies. All liars are children of the devil. Lying simply means not telling the truth or telling a half truth. It also involves projecting a false image.

As much as people of the world try to normalise lying, God's standard remains the same. All lying is sin. You may tell yourself that you applied wisdom, or that you were diplomatic. It's all one and the same thing. The sin of lying is what landed Ananias and Sapphira in an early grave. They thought they were smart just like many people today erroneously think. Unfortunately for them, they lost their lives.

Lying is not limited to verbal untruths. A person can live a lie, in which case everything about such a person is false. There are people who pretend to be rich just to earn human validation. Those are liars. All those who are living fake lives are students in the school of lying. The ones who present a false image of themselves on social media in order to please known or unknown people are also enrolled in the school of lying. All attempts to hide, cover or twist the truth are equal to lies.

Beloved, we are still in the period of grace. There is still room to repent and return to your Father in heaven. The devil, whom you serve by lying, has nothing to offer you except eternal condemnation. You may think you are smart or that you have escaped punishment temporarily, but what of the eternal punishment? I advise you to follow the example of Moses who chose to suffer with the people of God rather than enjoy the pleasures of Egypt. If you fall into sin, it is better you confess and ask for forgiveness rather than lie and escape temporarily. Better still, ask God for grace to always do things right so that you don't find yourself in a situation where you have to tell a lie. May the Lord help you, in Jesus' name.

Pride is the oldest sin, the sin that repulses God. The devil lifted himself up in pride, attempting to be like God. The result is that he was cast out of heaven. Pride is such a terrible sin; anyone who is proud is a disciple of the devil.

What exactly is pride? Pride refers to an over bloated sense of self-esteem, a feeling that one is better than others, arrogance. A proud person thinks of himself or herself more highly than he or she ought to. He or she thinks that other people are unimportant and that he or she is the only one that matters. Pride manifests itself both in subtle and open ways. For example, if you enter a room and get offended because you are not acknowledged, it's a sign of pride. If you refuse to relate with other people because you think they are beneath you, it's a sign of pride, Refusing to ask for help for fear of being mocked is a sign of pride. False humility is pride. Exalting yourself above others, whether verbally or inwardly, is a sign of pride. Inwardly or outwardly praising yourself rather than giving glory to God is a sign of pride. Refusing to pray is a sign of pride. Elevating your will above God's plans and purposes is equally pride.

James 4:6 says that "God resists the proud" while Proverbs 16:18 says that "Pride goes before destruction." The stand of scripture on the issue of pride is quite clear from these verses. God hates pride and no proud person can abide in His presence. If you are proud, God Himself fights you. Now, if God is the one fighting against you, who will deliver you?

Beloved, ask the Holy Spirit to examine your heart for any form of pride. No proud person can receive the help of God or abide in His Presence. If you are guilty of this sin, run to God in repentance today. Ask Him to purge your heart of every impurity and baptise you with the spirit of humility. Remember, pride will bring you down while humility will exalt you.

[10] Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age, so that he could not see. Then Joseph brought them near him, and he kissed them and embraced them.
[11] And Israel said to Joseph, “I had not thought to see your face; but in fact, God has also shown me your offspring!”
[12] So Joseph brought them from beside his knees, and he bowed down with his face to the earth.
[13] And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near him.
[14] Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn.
[15] And he blessed Joseph, and said: “God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has fed me all my life long to this day,
[16] The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them, And the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”
[20] So he blessed them that day, saying, “By you Israel will bless, saying, ‘May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh!’ ” And thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
[21] Then Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am dying, but God will be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers.

The next in our heroes of faith series is Jacob. Jacob was the son of Isaac and Rebekah, the one who stole his brother's birthright and obtained the blessing by deceit.

Jacob had received the blessing but he needed to be pruned. He had his first personal encounter with God as he fled from Esau (Genesis 28:10-22). Sometimes, afflictions are capable of bringing us to a place of divine encounter. Jacob would probably not have encountered God like this had he remained in his father's house. This encounter moved him to make a vow that if God would be with him, he would serve Him and give Him a tithe of everything he got. It is therefore unwise to think that tithing began under the law when tithing actually began with Abraham (Genesis 14:20).

Jacob went to stay with his uncle, Laban, where he had a series of experiences that eventually brought him to a place of brokenness and humility. After serving for a wife for seven years, Laban gave Jacob the wrong wife and made him serve for another seven years to get his rightful wife. He changed Jacob's wages ten times (Genesis 31:7). At this point, Jacob had been sufficiently broken to carry on the blessing. Genesis 32:24-30 reveals how Jacob fought with God to receive his blessing and a change of name to Israel.

Despite being the recipient of the generational blessing, he still had to fight to get into its full operation. Sometimes, trials serve to completely rid the children of God of pride and bring them into complete surrender.

By Genesis 48, Jacob had walked with God for a considerable length of time and knew His perfect will. By faith, he blessed not only the sons of Joseph, but also his own sons, concerning things to come.

From Jacob, we learn that God can work through the most unlikely individuals. He may allow His children to go through unpleasant experiences in order to prune them and perfect their faith in Him. If you are experiencing a season of pruning, ask God to help you learn the lessons quickly so that the season will be shorter. Also, stay close to God so that you do not confuse satanic activities for pruning. May the Lord perfect your faith, in Jesus' name.

Isaac, the promised son of Abraham and Sarah, grew up in the ways of the Lord. Hence, he also was listed as a hero of faith. He learnt from his father the promises of God for him and his descendants and passed the same down to his sons.

Isaac was birthed by faith and he lived his entire life by faith. This faith was then transferred to his sons such that Jacob admitted that the "Fear of Isaac" had been with him (Genesis 31:42). From childhood, Isaac had seen his father walk with God and he had inherited his father's faith. He knew how God had provided a ram to prevent Abraham from sacrificing him (Genesis 22:1-14). He had already encountered God as Jehovah Jireh through his father.

This is instructive for fathers. It is important that your children know God through you and serve Him because of your own example.

Genesis 26 provides a record of Isaac's own encounter with God. It is not enough for children to know the God of their father; they also require their own personal encounter to strengthen their faith.

Isaac walked with God. Like his father before him, he lived like a stranger, dwelling in tabernacles in the land of promise. In the time of famine, he obeyed God's instruction to remain where he was and he reaped a hundredfold harvest. He entreated the Lord for his wife, Rebekah, and God answered (Genesis 25:21).

Isaac knew and served the God of Abraham as his God. Hebrews says that Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau by faith. Even though he hadn't seen the manifestation, he believed that God would fulfil His promises to Abraham and he blessed his sons accordingly.

From Isaac, we learn that faith can be passed down a generation. There are promises that are not just for us, but for our descendants. It takes humility to recognise this and walk according to God's plan. May the Lord make us sensitive to His divine plans which are perfect, in Jesus' name.

Sarah the wife of Abraham, is listed as a hero of faith. She is the first woman on this prestigious list and she is subsumed under Abraham, her husband. What lessons are there to learn from this woman?

First of all, Sarah was a submissive wife. The Bible says that she called her husband, 'lord.' 1 Peter 3:5-6 describes true beauty using Sarah as an example. Sarah, as much as she had her own opinions, still respected Abraham as the head of the house so she didn't take any action without his approval, including in the matter of Hagar (Genesis 16:1-6, 21:9-12). Here is a great lesson for women: do not usurp your husband's authority. Husbands should however note that submission does not mean subjugating or relegating their wives.

Another important point is that Sarah served the God of her husband. This is also from the place of submission. Most times, God spoke to Abraham who then passed the message to Sarah but she still believed. She didn't doubt her husband and his God. She did not wait until God spoke to her directly. She followed her husband's example of faith. When Sarah laughed in Genesis 18, she denied it because she was afraid. She had enough fear of God to not laugh at His promises to His face. Many of us, like Sarah, laugh at divine promises because we don't see the possibilities of them coming to pass but we need to operate in faith. Sarah's faith must have been awakened at that time because it was in that season she conceived.

Are you, like Sarah, trying to help God? Every attempt to play God will end in futility. It was when Sarah's faith was awakened that she conceived her child and received her miracle. Beloved, it's not enough to know God's promises for you, you should also tenaciously hold on to those promises in faith, believing that they will come to pass. Don't believe in God and have a Plan B. Have a mindset of "God alone."

[8] By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
[9] By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;
[10] for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
[11] By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.
[12] Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
[13] These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
[14] For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.
[15] And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.
[16] But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
[17] By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
[18] of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,”
[19] concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday, 13th August, 2026.

Today, we discuss Abraham, the father of faith. This patriarch is described as the friend of God, the one who believed God even when it didn't make human sense.

First, God instructed Abraham to leave his father's house to a place He would show him, Abraham obeyed and left. Not only did he leave, he looked forward to the city God had promised without looking back. He looked for a city whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10). Like Abraham, God also calls us today to leave our worldly treasures and follow Him to the heavenly city. Philippians 3:20 tells us that our citizenship is in heaven. It's a choice to follow God in faith like Abraham did, or hold on to what seems certain but will eventually be destroyed.

God promised Abraham a son; He assured him that he would be the father of many nations. According to Romans 4:18-21, Abraham did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief; he believed God despite the obvious biological disadvantages. Beloved, this is a great lesson for us, to trust God despite medical or physical evidence to the contrary. You might have received damaging medical reports or terrible news but faith tells you to believe the report of the Lord which supersedes every other report.

Abraham received Isaac by faith but God asked him to sacrifice Isaac. He obeyed again. Abraham's obedience through faith was counted to him for righteousness (Romans 4:22). If we also believe wholly in Christ Jesus, we will be partakers of His righteousness.

As believers in Jesus Christ, our faith in God will also make demands of us today. There are times that we would be required to give up precious things to test the level of our trust in God. How we respond determines whether or not we get the rewards of righteousness.

Beloved, the truth is that God will not make demands to harm His children. Every instruction God gives is to help His children come to a place of total submission to Him. May your faith not fail where it matters most, in Jesus' name.

[1] Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.
[2] But he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
[3] For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; he raised up altars for the Baals, and made wooden images; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.
[4] He also built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, “In Jerusalem shall My name be forever.”
[5] And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
[6] Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; he practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.
[7] He even set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;
[8] and I will not again remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your fathers, only if they are careful to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.”
[9] So Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
[10] And the Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they would not listen.
[11] Therefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze fetters, and carried him off to Babylon.
[12] Now when he was in affliction, he implored the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
[13] and prayed to Him; and He received his entreaty, heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.
[14] After this he built a wall outside the City of David on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, as far as the entrance of the Fish Gate; and it enclosed Ophel, and he raised it to a very great height. Then he put military captains in all the fortified cities of Judah.
[15] He took away the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the Lord, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the Lord and in Jerusalem; and he cast them out of the city.
[16] He also repaired the altar of the Lord, sacrificed peace offerings and thank offerings on it, and commanded Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel.

God can touch the most hardened individuals to bring about unimaginable transformation. Many instances in scriptures attest to this fact. One of such is the story of king Manasseh, Hezekiah's son, who reigned in Judah. He perpetrated so much evil and refused to walk in the ways of his father who brought great reform to the land. Verses two to eight of our Fire Scripture record the evil deeds of Manasseh.

He refused to yield to several warnings until God raised the Assyrians to take him into captivity. It took the sufferings in captivity to bring Manasseh to a total surrender. Then, Manasseh humbly sought the Lord and cried to God in prayer. God heard his prayers and his supplications. Manasseh received mercy from the Lord in spite of his idolatry and wickedness. As terrible as his sins were, his hardened heart was softened. Manasseh became a new man. He undid all the evils he had done (vv. 15-16).

I don't know what sins you have committed. They could be more terrible than Manasseh's but God is able to forgive and restore you as He did for Manasseh. Anyone who comes to Jesus in genuine repentance can find forgiveness of sins, and receive grace and power for a fresh start from the Lord. If God could forgive Manasseh, He will forgive you. Is there anyone you need to intercede for? Please pray, so that such hardened hearts will receive the transformative touch of God.

Manasseh was anti-God, but when he realized his folly, he found his way back to God in humility and repentance and God forgave him. He became a restorer and a reformer. God did the same for Saul of Tarsus. This former persecutor of the brethren became one of the greatest apostles who did exploits for God. God can do the same in your life. You shall be divinely translated from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of light of His dear Son, Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:13). You will become a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17).

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 11th August, 2026.

In continuation of our discourse, Jesus instructed that you shine your light before men so that they will be able to see your good works, and God will be glorified. Unfortunately, this light can be prevented from shining.

The very first thing that can prevent this light from shining is sin. God hates sin and detests every act of unrighteousness. Sin separates us from God. As a child of God, you must flee every appearance of evil if you want your light to shine. Sin dims the light. Sinful habits and practices like anger, pride, malice, unforgiveness, hatred, bitterness, revenge, lust, evil imaginations, careless utterances, and so on, would prevent your light from shining. These are traits of the accuser of the brethren, satan himself. Consequently, anyone who has the attributes of satan cannot shine the light of God. It is therefore of great importance that you do away with sin and every act of unrighteousness.

Your light has only one channel to shine through - your good works. Are your works good or bad? As a Christian, you are expected to be involved in kingdom activities such as soul winning, evangelism and discipleship. Are you hospitable in any way? Will you readily be a Dorcas who cared for the widows? What impact are you making on people around you, in your home, your neighbourhood, your workplace, marketplace, the church and the larger society? How positively have you influenced lives that, with or without words, it can be said that you are a true child of God?

This is a call to re-examine your life and see if you're still in the faith. You can cry to God for help, so that the light of God in you doesn't die off. You need to get back to the place of confession and repentance before God, so that He will forgive your sins and restore your joy of salvation. Then, your light will be lighted by the Light of God and you will make a difference as a child of God living in this world of sin and iniquity.
