Ezekiel 28:12-19
[12] “Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 

[13] You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created. 

[14] “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. 

[15] You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you. 

[16] “By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, And you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones. 

[17] “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you. 

[18] “You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, And I turned you to ashes upon the earth In the sight of all who saw you. 

[19] All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; You have become a horror, And shall be no more forever.” ’ ”

[14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 12th May, 2026.
Lucifer, who was once a beautiful angel, became proud and sought to elevate himself above God. His desire to be like the Most High led to his rebellion and eventual fall from heaven. This act of rivalry with God resulted in Lucifer's transformation into satan. Isaiah 14:12-15 says, "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."

This famous declaration of Lucifer in Isaiah 14 is often referred to as the "I will" statements, where he declared his intent to ascend above God's throne, to be like the Most High. Here was a being, perfect in beauty and wisdom, until his pride led to his fall and deformation. Yes, that is what happens to a man who forgets his Maker and begins to take the glory for his achievements.

He was not merely disobedient; he sought to take what rightfully belonged to God-the glory and authority of the Most High. The temptation to become like God is at the core of every human sin. Adam and Eve's fall in the garden began with the same desire: to "be like God" (Genesis 3:5). Lucifer's story serves as a warning against trying to elevate ourselves to God's level. This desire to be noticed, if left unchecked, can lead to spiritual death. It is only in humility that we can align ourselves with God's will and give Him the glory He deserves.

1. I repent of every spirit of pride, in the name of Jesus.

2. O God, have mercy on me and forgive me, in the name of Jesus.

3. Holy Spirit, help me to be humble, in the name of Jesus.

4. Holy Spirit, teach me to live in humility, in the name of Jesus.

5. I refuse to follow satan all the days of my life, in the name of Jesus.

6. I shall follow Jesus all the days of my life, in the name of Jesus.

7. I silence every voice of pride in my life, in the name of Jesus.
