Hebrews 4:12-16

12. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 7th September, 2025.

The word of God is one of the most potent weapons of spiritual warfare. God’s word is called the sword of the Spirit. A sword is an offensive weapon of warfare. It is disheartening that many believers do not know most of the weapons God has made available for them and many do not know how to use them.

Your sword is in your mouth. You must use it for you to derive the benefits attached to it. By the working of the anointing upon David, he knew that his sword was in his mouth. He used it in his confrontation with Goliath. Goliath initiated the verbal war by cursing David and the name of his gods. David too utilised the sword in his mouth. David’s pronouncements in 1 Samuel 17:45-46 were prophetic, profound and game-changing. David told Goliath that though he (Goliath) had come to him with a sword, a spear and a shield, he (David) had come to him in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel whom he (Goliath) had defied. That was the first death blow David landed on Goliath. It was the first attack with the sword of the Spirit. The name of the Lord is another veritable weapon of spiritual warfare that David used. With these, heaven was invited to fight for him and there was no way the gates of hell could prevail.

Secondly, David prophesied and told Goliath that on that very day, the LORD would deliver him (Goliath) into his hand and he would take Goliath’s head and feed Goliath’s head as well as the carcasses of the hosts of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. David added that by the fulfillment of his prophecy, all the assembly would know that the LORD does not save by sword and spear and that the battle belongs to the LORD who would give the Philistines into the hands of Israel.

Beloved, what is that Goliath threatening your life, stealing your joy and peace and giving you sleepless nights? Arise and use the sword of the Spirit, the word of God and the Goliath will fall, in Jesus’ name.

MFM Daily Prayer Points 7th September 2025

𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆

1. My Father, help me to utilize Your word as my potent spiritual weapon, in the name of Jesus.

2. O Lord, fill Your word in my mouth with great authority, in the name of Jesus.

3. I take the sword of the Spirit and cut down the head of my Goliath, in the name of Jesus.

𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆

4. With my spiritual sword, I destroy the strong man assigned against me, in the name of Jesus.

5. I refuse to be a soldier without sword, in the name of Jesus.

6. I send the Sword of fire into the camp of my enemies, in the name of Jesus.

7. Sword of the Lord, cut down all household and environmental enemies assigned against me, in the name of Jesus.
