Proverbs 4:23 instructs us to guard our hearts with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. The thoughts of a man's heart determine the direction of the man's life. What a man spends time thinking about will eventually begin to shape his speech and his actions.

The mind is so powerful that the Bible instructs us to bring its contents under captivity to the lordship of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Also, Philippians 4:8 enjoins believers to think and meditate on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report. Why? It's because God hates a heart that harbours evil imaginations. This means that if you continually think of evil things, you are automatically an enemy of God.

It is important to be careful about the things you're exposed to. Constant exposure to filthy content will eventually pollute your thoughts. Guard the gates that lead to your heart -your eyes and your ears. A Christian should not be found watching pornography, movies that do not edify, or listening to dirty jokes. These things find their way into your heart and make you filthy. The works of the flesh will thrive in a heart that is not yielded to Christ.

Under the new covenant, thinking evil is just as bad as doing evil. Some people have no godly thoughts at all. They only scheme in their minds how to pull other people down, how to put people in trouble or lie against them, how to commit fornication, etc. These are things that displease God. If you find yourself in this category of evil thinkers, you need to repent today. Ask the Lord for mercy. Let the blood of Jesus purify your heart and let Jesus be enthroned in your heart. The next thing to do is to meditate on the words of scripture according to Joshua 1:8. This will ensure that no evil finds its way into your heart again. When you think godly thoughts, your life is shaped according to the will of God. May the Lord be enthroned in your heart, in Jesus' name.

[20] Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers—they held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands for blowing—and they cried, “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!”
[21] And every man stood in his place all around the camp; and the whole army ran and cried out and fled.
[22] When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the Lord set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; and the army fled to Beth Acacia, toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.
[23] And the men of Israel gathered together from Naphtali, Asher, and all Manasseh, and pursued the Midianites.
[24] Then Gideon sent messengers throughout all the mountains of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites, and seize from them the watering places as far as Beth Barah and the Jordan.” Then all the men of Ephraim gathered together and seized the watering places as far as Beth Barah and the Jordan.
[25] And they captured two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb. They pursued Midian and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side of the Jordan.

Gideon, also known as Jerubbaal, is listed as a hero of faith. Initially, he was full of questions and totally unsure about anything. He described himself as the least in his father's house so, how could he possibly be a hero of faith? Let's see a few lessons from him.

Given the adverse situation of Israel at the time, Gideon believed that the Lord had forsaken them. So, when the angel called him a mighty man of valour, he wanted a sign to hold on to as an assurance that God would help him (Judges 6:12,17). God showed him the signs (Judges 6:21,36-40). In response, Gideon built an altar to the Lord and threw down his father's altar of Baal. Old altars of unbelief must be thrown down to make room for faith in God.

As Christians, it is not a bad thing to ask God for a sign. The sign may not necessarily be physical like in the case of Gideon, it may be in the form of a verse of scripture, a prophecy or an encouragement, etc.

Another lesson from Gideon's faith is that faith requires total conviction. Through his questions, he had developed an unshakable conviction so when God reduced his army from thirty two thousand to three hundred, he continued to trust that God would deliver the Midianites into their hands. It is important for believers to be fully convinced in their faith and rely wholly on God. The Midianites had a very large army so what were the odds of defeating them with only three hundred men? Physically, it was almost impossible but not with God. God turned the host of Midian against one another and they killed themselves. Faith firmly holds on to God and His promises even when situations seem contrary, knowing that He never fails.

Beloved, this is your sign from heaven to hold on to your faith in God. He will not fail you, no matter the size of the host that rises against you. You are more than a conqueror, in Jesus' name.

Joshua 2:1-21
[1] Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there.
[2] And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.”
[3] So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.”
[4] Then the woman took the two men and hid them. So she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.
[5] And it happened as the gate was being shut, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went I do not know; pursue them quickly, for you may overtake them.”
[6] (But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.)
[7] Then the men pursued them by the road to the Jordan, to the fords. And as soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.
[8] Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof,
[9] and said to the men: “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you.
[10] For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.
[11] And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
[12] Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token,
[13] and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.”
[14] So the men answered her, “Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”
[15] Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall; she dwelt on the wall.
[16] And she said to them, “Get to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you. Hide there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward you may go your way.”
[17] So the men said to her: “We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear,
[18] unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household to your own home.
[19] So it shall be that whoever goes outside the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will be guiltless. And whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head if a hand is laid on him.
[20] And if you tell this business of ours, then we will be free from your oath which you made us swear.”
[21] Then she said, “According to your words, so be it.” And she sent them away, and they departed. And she bound the scarlet cord in the window.

Today, we look at Rahab. The Bible describes her as a harlot living on the city wall. The city wall must have been a good place for business; she could easily target travellers for her trade. Also, living on the city wall meant she had access to information more quickly than those living in the city. This woman had heard of the mighty deeds of the God of Israel and her response was faith in Him.

While the king of Jericho and his advisers were looking for ways to arrest the situation of the Israelites, she knew they were fighting a lost cause. She knew that the God who could part the Red Sea would not have any trouble penetrating the city wall of Jericho.

Hebrews 11 tells us that Rahab hid those spies by faith. From her, we learn brazen faith, faith that is unafraid. She risked her life for what she believed to be the truth. She could have been killed for treason because she was protecting the enemies of the state. But she knew better; she knew that Yahweh was more powerful than the state.

Despite her flawed lifestyle, she was willing to submit to the God of Israel. God did not reject her because she was unclean; He accepted her and made her part of His people. She also dragged her entire family with her. In the same vein, God will not reject anyone who is willing to forsake his or her old lifestyle and accept His free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ (John 6:37).

Rahab, according to James 2:25, proved her faith by her works. Hiding the spies and making an agreement with them was proof of her faith. What are you doing to prove your faith in Jesus Christ? Learn from Rahab today. Protect the servants of God; there are blessings attached.

In the end, Rahab's faith paid off. Not only was she grafted into the family of God, she also became an ancestress of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5).

Moses, the next hero of faith, is an interesting character. He was born at a time when Pharaoh had ordered the killing of male Israelite children. We could say he had an unfortunate start but thank God for the faith of his parents, his mother especially. She hid him for three months in defiance of the king's order. When she eventually left him by the river, God arranged Pharaoh's daughter to care for him (Exodus 2:1-10).

Moses grew up in Pharaoh's palace, well learned in the ways of the Egyptians. Unknown to them, God was using the enemy to raise His general. You might think you have been captured by the enemy right now. I encourage you to hold on to your faith because God might just be using the enemy to raise you as His general.

This same Moses chose Israel over Egypt. He chose to suffer with the people of God rather than enjoy the pleasures of Egypt. Beloved, will you choose Jesus over the world? If you are made to choose, will you pick Christ and suffer for His name or will you choose your comfort? I implore you to follow Moses' example.

Moses, despite his initial mistake of killing the Egyptian, and excuse of being a stammerer, eventually embraced the call of God upon his life. By faith, he kept the Passover and brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, the land of bondage (Exodus 12:21-30). Thus began the process of fulfilling God's promise to the fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

From Moses, we learn the power of a yielded life. Despite his perceived defect, he embraced the call of God upon his life and God used him mightily. You too can be used mightily by God if you yield yourself. God used this same Moses to lead the children of Israel through the Red Sea while their Egyptian pursuers perished in the same. There is no limit to what God can do through a yielded and broken vessel.

Our next hero of faith is Joseph. He was his mother's firstborn and his father's favourite, Unfortunately, his brothers were envious of him. His father displayed favouritism by making him a coat of many colours.

Despite his father's love for him, Joseph had to undertake his own journey of faith. He must have known and learnt about his father's God but his belief in that God was going to be tested. He was thrown into the pit by his brothers, then, sold into slavery. He came to Potiphar's house where he was falsely accused by Potiphar's wife. He landed in prison.

It is noteworthy that Joseph stuck with God through this entire process. Just like his fathers before him, his faith was being tested and it was crucial for him to come out strong. Even so, as contemporary Christian, your faith will be tried. You may not be sold into slavery or thrown into prison like Joseph but you will always be tested with choices. You will always have to choose between good and evil; between steadfastness and compromise. I hope that, like Joseph, you will choose uprightness over worldly pleasure.

Joseph had the gift of interpreting dreams. This gift eventually made room for him in the palace of Pharaoh. Your own gift too will make room for you in the palace but you need to be ready like Joseph was when his time came.

Through his experiences, Joseph held on to the promise of God's generational blessing. His faith never wavered. After all his family had come to Egypt, he still knew for sure that God would yet give them the land of Canaan. He prophesied it from a place of deep conviction. He gave instructions that his bones should be taken to the promised land so that he would still be a partaker of God's promises even in death.

Beloved, how strong is your faith? Will you give up at the slightest provocation or will you hold on to God's divine promises? Joseph's faith paid off because he saw the promised land even in death. If you also hold on to God, you will see the manifestation of His promises.

[24] Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
[25] Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 6th September, 2026.

Yesterday, we discussed the importance of marriage; today, we round off our discourse by examining how to fireproof your marriage. Beloved Christian brother and sister, your marriage is an express image and reflection of the final marriage between Jesus Christ, the Groom, and the bride, the Church of Christ. It is therefore important that it correctly represents that picture. As the bride of Jesus, we cannot be careless and unconcerned with things that are kingdom principles. It is only a family that prays together that stays together. This unity cannot be achieved except by putting Jesus in the picture. The only way to do this is to make Him the Lord of your life and your home. His presence keeps away the intruder, the accuser and the destroyer. Like a spiritual fireman, you can fireproof your marriage. When the devil sees the fire of God envelop your marriage and family, he flees.

In order to fireproof your marriage, certain steps must be taken. Both of you must be genuinely born again, each person having a stable relationship and deep intimacy with God. You must ensure that you are living a godly life worthy of emulation to your children, wards and others around you, so much that no negative thing can be said about your faith. Your godly character, conduct and conversation should be such that the devil will find no legal ground to accuse you before the Lord. As a result, your children will follow your steps doing what is right as they grow up (Proverbs 22:6). In addition, both of you must be intentional about praying together, fellowshipping together in the presence of God and constantly lifting up your marriage to God.

When you are doing what is expected of you as a couple, God is faithful to fulfil His promise of protection over your marriage and family, and you will be divinely kept and preserved by God's power, in Jesus' name.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Saturday, 5th September, 2026.

Marriage is God's divine intention. It is the first human institution after the creation of the world. It came into being as a matter of divine prerogative without consultation with anyone. God saw that Adam was alone and needed a companion, a position which the animals around him could not fill. Therefore, He decided to give him a suitable helper by creating the woman from his rib. The woman was brought to complete the man.

Marriage was created by God and can only be managed by Him. Once a man and woman have been joined under divine guidance and blessed, they can begin to live as husband and wife. This divine pronouncement is a seal of their love, unity and oneness, and the Bible says they should not be put asunder.

Marriage has always been a threat to the devil who hates unity of any sort. Looking deeply into the constitution of Christian marriage, this unity extends to the place of prayer. These two persons pose a terror to the kingdom of satan whenever they agree in prayer. If half of Christian marriages united in prayer of agreement, the devil would be in trouble. What does he do? He seeks to fulfil his threefold evil agenda between couples who are believers in Christ, ensuring that they either don't pray together or they pray what is called, "ice cream prayers," that is, weak prayers done out of coercion or routine, not out of burning zeal and passion for God. In some cases, couples do not pray together at all.

Herein lies a great tragedy. This singular problem is the reason many marriages and homes are in trouble today. When the fire on the family altar is weak or has been reduced to ashes, the devil has a field day in such homes. Beloved, go back and examine your marriage. Ask the Lord to rekindle the fire on your prayer altar if it has gone out. If the fire is still burning, ask the Lord to help you so that it will not be put out.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Friday, 4th September, 2026.

In Jesus' time, wine making was a common practice so His followers easily understood the parable about the new wine and old wineskin. It would usually take a series of processes to produce wine. The final product would be new wine that is still fermenting. This wine needed to be stored in a new wineskin so that the wineskin would expand with the pressure of fermentation. If new wine wasn't stored in a new wineskin, the pressure from the fermentation would burst the old wineskin because it would no longer be able to expand. Then, both the wine and wineskin would be lost.

Jesus came to lead people into a new form of worship; worship that is not rooted in legalism but in a genuine relationship with the Father. Jesus told the woman of Samaria that the true worshippers would worship the Father in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Before Jesus came, the law of Moses was in operation. The problem with the law was that it focused on outward performance rather than the heart. That was why God promised to give His people a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26-27). Jesus came to bridge the gap between God and men by tearing the veil into the Holiest place.

Accepting Jesus means receiving new wine. New wine is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. However, if you choose to mix your Christianity with the rules of another religion, you are trying to pour new wine into an old wineskin. Practising Christianity without the Holy Spirit or trying to please God by works alone without faith, equates pouring new wine into an old wineskin. Both would be destroyed.

Beloved, make up your mind today to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. The only way to God is Jesus Christ; adding anything else or trying to get to the Father through any other means is equal to putting new wine into an old wineskin. All will be lost. May your eyes be enlightened, in Jesus' name.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday, 3rd September, 2026.

It has been an awesome experience these past few days that we have been discussing how to seek God who is a diligent rewarder of those who seek Him. Having known what it means to seek God, and how to seek Him, it is important to know how God rewards. Remember, God rewards obedience and absolutely detests disobedience. Therefore, seeking God first will usher you into the Kingdom of God, as a bona-fide child of God and citizen of heaven.

The gift of eternal life is in His bosom. This is a unique blessing like no other and the most coveted. Paul was a committed seeker of God, and he boldly declared with confidence at the time of his departure from this world, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing" (2 Timothy 4:7-8). He did not only enjoy the intimate relationship with God here on earth, he was also confident of a blissful eternity in His presence.

When you read, obey and meditate on God's word, you will discover and enjoy His unending promises. God will give you the wisdom and understanding to relate with fellow men and be victorious over the antics of the enemy. God knows all your needs and will supply them without struggles. When you pray and believe, God will reveal great and mighty things to you (Jeremiah 33:3). You will cry unto Him in prayer and He will answer you. When you worship God, you will receive the manifestation of His presence and power. Also, the best way to please God is to put your faith in action. Only when you have pleased God can you receive the rewards. You are welcome into the assembly of God seekers. Enjoy this life long experience of God's grace and power, in Jesus' name.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 2nd September, 2026.

In continuation of our discourse on seeking the Lord, it is important to state that seeking calls for an active involvement. You cannot sit idle, remain passive and claim you are seeking God. Seeking starts from a heart that loves and is consumed with passion for Him. Jeremiah 29:13 says, "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." You must genuinely seek and believe in Him.

After establishing a relationship with God, you strive to know more about Him through His word, through worship and through prayer. Deep intimacy with God is easily achieved through a wholesome devotion and desire to be led by Him, in total adherence to His will and His word. The word of God is God Himself (John 1:1). To discover and know more of Him, you need to read and meditate on His word, and live in obedience (Joshua 1:8). By doing this, you will prosper and have good success.

God inhabits the praises of His children. As you praise and worship the Lord, you bring down His presence. You can also discover more of God through prayer. This is a personal relationship in the secret place (Matthew 7:7). It calls for persistence and consistency. Ask Him to reveal more of Himself to you, as you constantly knock on the door of heaven through your worship and fervent prayer.

As stated in today's memory verse, the apostle Paul already knew God, but he desired to know more of Him. That means there is no end to knowing Him. It starts from here until you get to heaven in His bosom. It then means, as a Christian, you must do away with every kind of unrighteousness. Remain holy and undefiled in word and in deed. It is only by doing this that you can truly seek and see the Lord. When you do this, the Lord will give you direction and it will be easy for you to navigate life. This is an awesome experience which you cannot afford to miss.
