Judges 4:11 records that Heber, Jael's husband, had separated himself from the rest of the Kenites.

Most likely, Jael was not in the midst of her people. The Bible does not tell us whether Jael herself is a Kenite but we know that her husband is a Kenite, one of the descendants of Jethro, Moses' father-in-law. The Kenites had a close affinity with the children of Israel. Their relationship dated as far back as the days of Moses who married Zipporah, the daughter of Jethro. Moses persuaded Jethro to come with them and share in the goodness of God. They were originally settled in the land of Judah but Heber moved his family. Being tent dwellers, it meant they had to pack up and choose a new location to erect their tents. Jael probably was cut off from her people but she wasn't cut off from life. Being away from her people did not hinder her from getting the current information.

Jael knew that the Canaanites were oppressing Israel; she also knew that Israel was God's people.

Jael must have known about God's covenant with Israel and she chose to align. When the enemy of the Israelites escaped, Jael called out to him in order to execute God's judgement upon him.

Beloved, you might have been relocated from a familiar environment to a less familiar one. Perhaps, you got married and relocated, or you got a new job in a foreign country. You might be in a new location for whatever reason. God is present everywhere so He is with you. Also, being in another terrain should not hinder you from knowing and establishing God's will according to His word. Just like Jael, the people of God ought to be aware of current happenings and find out the will of God at every given point.

Christians ought to pray for the will of God to be established wherever they are because they are His ambassadors. We may not have to kill a physical enemy with a tent peg like Jael did, but we each have a role to play in the kingdom of God.

The next lesson we learn from Jael is industriousness. Jael and her people, the Kenites, were tent makers. They had no permanent dwelling; they used to move from place to place and set up tents wherever they settled. Jael was experienced in the art of setting up and pulling down tents. She was highly skilled in this. She was a hardworking woman. The Bible says that she offered Sisera milk. The fact that she could afford milk in her own tent is a testament that she must have been a hardworking woman.

Proverbs 31, while describing the virtuous woman, assigns to her the attributes of hard work and strength (vv. 25,27). Jael, as we see, possessed these attributes. This is a role that many Christians fail to perform. Christianity is not an excuse for laziness; it should never be used as a cloak for mediocrity. God expects His people to be up and doing, not slothful in business.

In the book of Ecclesiastes 9:10, scripture enjoins us to do whatever we have to do with our might. This means that, as Christians, there is no room for sloppiness in our day to day affairs. Our attitude towards work should be the right one. Christians should not be busybodies as Paul admonishes in the book of 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12; they should rather work hard so that the spirit of excellence of the Father can be made manifest in and through them.

Examine yourself today. Can you really describe yourself as hardworking? Or, do you just sit and wish for good things? Beloved, nothing good comes without a measure of hard work. As a matter of fact, the only place where success comes before work is the dictionary. The Lord Himself, the Creator of the universe, put in the work to bring the world into existence so what makes you think you don't have a role to play in your own success story?

Beloved, rise up today and take the right action where you need to. Then, call on the Lord to bless your efforts. Great success shall be yours, in Jesus' name.

Another lesson we learn from Jael is hospitality. In her culture at the time, hospitality was a must. Hosts were expected to take care of their guests and provide for their needs. Jael played the role of a good hostess by covering up her guest with a blanket and offering him milk.

Hospitality is the practice of being friendly and welcoming to guests and visitors. In this case, you receive and entertain them. The Bible enjoins us to be hospitable.

Jael offered Sisera milk and covered him with a blanket. She provided a high level of hospitality for Sisera by treating him like a king. She made him feel a sense of safety. You see, even though she had a goal of destroying the enemy, she did not neglect the basics.

As Christians, the hallmark of our faith and discipleship is love (John 13:35). Love manifests in several ways, including hospitality. How you treat people, whether known or unknown, should reflect your Christianity. Sometimes, your attitude preaches a louder message than your words. You cannot afford to treat people shabbily, no matter who they are. The Lord wants us to be hospitable, of course, with the use of divine discernment.

Just like in the case of Jael, hospitality can also be a weapon. Jael showed kindness to the enemy and got him so relaxed that he wasn't prepared for what was coming. The book of Proverbs 25:21-22 says, "If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, And the LORD shall reward thee." Paul quotes this same scripture in Romans 12:20. Showing love to an enemy is not a sign of weakness or surrender; it is rather a sign of strength and a proof of superior understanding. Your kindness to your enemies increases their punishment; you heap coals of fire on their heads and the Lord rewards you for it.

Beloved, make hospitality a regular practice henceforth. May the Lord baptise you with the spirit of hospitality, in Jesus' name.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Saturday, 21st March, 2026.

The Israelites were going to fight against the Canaanites who had oppressed them for twenty years. The Canaanites had nine hundred chariots of iron while Israel had barely enough men. The Lord had instructed Barak through Deborah the prophetess to lead the army of Israel and He had also told him that the glory would go to a woman. The Canaanite army was thoroughly defeated and their commander, Sisera, had to run away on foot. As Sisera ran, Jael came out to invite him into her tent.

The first lesson we learn from Jael is boldness. She was bold enough to invite Sisera into her tent even though she could have been accused of adultery for inviting a man into her tent. Jael knew that if she must fulfil God's purpose, she must take the first step. There was no way she could have successfully fought with Sisera on the road. She decided to use a better weapon and she succeeded. Sisera took up her offer, thus, successfully setting her plan into motion.

As children of God, we are instructed to be bold as lions and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). In this world, we are surrounded by enemies who are like Sisera and the Canaanite army. They have chariots of iron; they are well equipped to trouble the people of God. However, we should not be afraid because the One Who lives inside of us is greater (1 John 4:4). When we are faced with challenging situations, we should not be afraid.

The Lord our God has promised to neither leave us nor forsake us so we have no reason to be afraid. Are you harassed by challenges of life? Rise up boldly today and speak the words of authority and victory. It's time to rise and oppress all who have been oppressing the people of God. No more hiding away, no more fear of the agents of darkness. It's time to face them head on and defeat them in combat by reason of the finished works of Christ.

Today's focus is on how the status of Ruth changed. By herself, she made a confession that came from the heart and not just her mouth. "And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me" (Ruth 1:16-17).

It was a declaration of faith, trust and total allegiance to the God of Israel. She departed physically and spiritually from her former nation, culture and people, and committed the rest of her life unto the God of Israel. God received her and her status changed. Divine protocols were broken for her sake, mercy showed up through Boaz, and she came into the genealogy of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Her life story and her generation changed for good. The same can happen in your life.

Jesus has redeemed us from the law of sin and death through His shed blood on the Cross of Calvary. All that is required of us is to confess with our mouth like Ruth did and accept His finished works. My advice for you this day is that you stop being a mere church goer and conformist. God sees your heart. He knows when you are totally committed to Him and when you are not. It does not matter how deeply rooted in sin and iniquity your foundation is, your ungodly activities of the past, or even the stinking condition of the present, God desires your confession, total and genuine repentance, and a commitment to continue with Him. He will give you a new beginning and a glorious future if you are bold enough to take this step of faith.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday, 19th March, 2026.

God was displeased with the Moabites because of their wicked deeds to His beloved nation, Israel. He therefore placed a restriction on the entry of Moabites into the congregation of God's children. There was to be no cross cultural relationship between them and Israel. God had spoken and no man dared do otherwise. The only person who could alter such a verdict would be God Himself.

God, however, in His supremacy, decided to lift this declaration and allow a Moabitess into the gathering of His people. This was Ruth, one of the daughters in law of Naomi. The one that chose to forsake her god and her people and follow her mother in law, after they all had been bereaved. Ruth had a choice like her colleague; she could have also turned back but she didn't. She decided to follow Naomi, even at the expense of losing her nation, her people, her cultural and social identity, to become an Israelite. Little did she know that she was fulfilling a divine purpose, in which God would change her status, her nationality, her people. At the end of this story, Ruth became a wife to Boaz, a kinsman redeemer. Her culture and nationality changed. She gave birth to Obed, from whose lineage David came and subsequently, our Lord Jesus Christ. (Please read through the entire book of Ruth for the full story).

Beloved, God can change your own status too despite any generational curse. It doesn't matter who your forefathers were, what filthy things they did, or whatever evil they attracted to the family line; you can run to hide under the wings of Jehovah today. Emulate the example of Ruth. Come out of the darkness of your father's house and embrace the light of Christ by joining the family of believers. God honours faith that stubbornly clings to Him. You may not necessarily be following a mother in law like Ruth but the principle is to cleave to the God who can save you.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 18th March, 2026.

Contentment is achieved through divine alignment. That is why apostle Paul wrote to Timothy stating, "Godliness with contentment is great gain" (1 Timothy 6:6). Note that it is not just gain, but great gain. To be truly contented, therefore, calls for a healthy state of mind. It calls for a humble, grateful heart; one that seeks God and is ready to accept whatever He offers as the best, a heart that is surrendered to the Giver of all good things, irrespective of the present circumstances, one that is not greedy or covetous of another person's success or riches. A contented man is not often critical of others, entitled, perfectionist, or ungrateful. God detests such unhealthy and ungodly attitudes.

Beloved, everyone that is patient enough to wait upon the Lord eventually becomes a spectacular wonder. Resist the temptation to always seek instant gratification so that you do not fall into any evil trap. Gehazi's greed brought leprosy upon him and his generation. If he had been satisfied with whatever his master had given him, he would not have fallen into the curse that became a generational liability.

As a child of God, be contented with whatever you have. Silver and gold are God's (Haggai 2:8). He gives us the power to get wealth. Therefore, set your mind on the things above and not on the things here on earth. Desire and determine to be godly in all your relationships and dealings: home, workplace and church. Desist from ungodly acts and unprofitable ventures that do not befit a child of God. The Bible counsels us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added (Matthew 6:33). It is a matter of priority. Put God first. Be satisfied with what He gives you. He is able to give you abundance of every good thing of life (Ephesians 3:20). Do not despise the days of little beginnings. Better days are yet to come and great shall be your gain.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 17th March, 2026.

Contentment means having a realistic and godly ambition. It also involves having a sense of satisfaction with what you have while striving for something better according to God's will. To be contented means to discover who you truly are, what you have been called to do, and to do it diligently. Realizing and acknowledging that God has created you uniquely is the first step in contentment. You can learn how to improve from others but you cannot become another person. God has wired us all differently for a reason. In our individual differences, we give a more beautiful picture of God in His sovereignty. After all, we are all created in His image.

Contentment is a feature of godliness. As a child of God, you must allow God to lead you by His Spirit in all that you do. You need to avoid ungodly comparison and unhealthy competition. God has called you into a divinely unique position. The question that arises is, who are you competing with and why? There are times when you want to emulate a godly example or embrace a godly motive; however, struggling to be like another person amounts to discontentment. This does not reflect a humble and teachable spirit which is one of the hallmarks of God's children.

The bottom line is that God is seeking for contented children. These are the ones who have acknowledged the fact that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. Such persons appreciate who they are and would never struggle to be like another. Negative compromise, undue rivalry, envy and jealousy will lead to a destructive end. Beloved, you need to check your motives for everything you do as getting involved in anything without God's direction can lead to ruin. When you walk in contentment, you are sure to be awesomely blessed and be a blessing to others. Consequently, you become a role model for them to follow. You will end up being grateful to God for such a fulfilled life and God is pleased with you.

[20] So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

[21] And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

[22] Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

[23] And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”

Marriage is a divine institution established by God with a profound purpose. It is designed to reflect His love, unity, and covenant with His people. Understanding God's purpose for marriage can help us build strong, healthy, and fulfilling relationships. In Genesis 2:18-24, we see that God created marriage to provide companionship. "The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." God created Eve from Adam's rib, signifying the deep, inseparable bond between husband and wife. Marriage is intended to be a partnership where both individuals support, love, and care for each other.

I recall the story of Ade and Funmi, a couple from Nigeria who have been married for over 30 years. Their marriage has faced numerous challenges, including financial difficulties and health issues. Despite these trials, Ade and Funmi have remained committed to each other and their faith. They constantly pray together, seek God's guidance, and support each other. Their marriage is a testament to the power of unity, love, and God's grace. Ephesians 5:22-33 highlights another purpose of marriage: to reflect Christ's relationship with the Church. Husbands are called to love their wives just as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her. Wives are called to respect and submit to their husbands as the Church submits to Christ. This mutual love and respect create a harmonious and fulfilling relationship.

Similarly, there is the story of Kwame and Abena from Ghana. Kwame, a pastor, and Abena, a teacher, have been married for 20 years. Their marriage is marked by mutual respect, love, and a shared commitment to serving God. They actively participate in church activities and use their marriage as a ministry to mentor young couples. Their relationship exemplifies the biblical principles of love, respect, and service. Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favour from the Lord." Marriage is also a source of blessings and favor from God. When we align our marriages with God's purpose, we experience His blessings in our homes, families, and lives.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 15th March, 2026.

Mothers are indeed priceless treasures, endowed with unparalleled strength and boundless love. As I reflect on my own upbringing, I recall the countless sacrifices my mother made to ensure our well-being. She would forgo her own needs to provide for us, sacrificing her food, her time, her money, and herself to ensure we received a good education. Proverbs 31:15 captures this sentiment perfectly: "She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants." Her dedication knew no bounds, and her love was a testament to God's grace. Even as we grew older and entered new phases of life, our mother's care never wavered, When we got married and had children of our own, she stepped in as a grandmother, tirelessly caring for the newborns, often at the expense of her own rest. Her unwavering commitment to our well-being exemplifies the love described in Isaiah 66:13: "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."

Beyond her physical sacrifices, our mother was a spiritual pillar in our lives. She consistently prayed for us, interceding on our behalf and ensuring that we stayed on the path to fulfilling our destinies. James 5:16 reminds us, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." Her prayers were a source of strength and guidance, and we are deeply grateful for her unwavering faith. Mothers are truly blessed with a unique ability to nurture and protect, often putting their own needs aside to ensure the happiness and success of their children. Their sacrifices, both seen and unseen, are a testament to their invaluable role in our lives. Ephesians 6:2-3 urges us to "Honor your father and mother" - a reminder that we must always appreciate and cherish the mothers in our lives for their endless love and dedication.

As we celebrate Mother's Day, let us take a moment to honour the mothers who have shaped us with their unwavering love and sacrifice. Let us remember to thank them, not just today, but every day, for their priceless contributions to our lives. May God bless all mothers and grant them the strength and wisdom to continue their invaluable work.
