1 Kings 18:20-40

[20] So Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel.
[21] And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
[22] Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
[23] Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it.
[24] Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”
[25] Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”
[26] So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.
[27] And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.”
[28] So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.
[29] And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
[30] Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.
[31] And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”
[32] Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.
[33] And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.”
[34] Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time.
[35] So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.
[36] And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.
[37] Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
[38] Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
[39] Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”
[40] And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday, 22nd January, 2026.

The Lord has always been and will always be the Mighty Man in battle. When Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, he wanted the people to patiently wait and see the salvation of the Lord. The prophets of Baal cried to their god from morning till evening, yet nothing happened. Then, they were cutting themselves in frustration. However, Elijah repaired the altar and called upon the God that answers by fire. The fire of God came down instantly and consumed the burnt offering, wood, stones and all. There is no doubt that the God that answers by fire is the Lord God Almighty.

David versus Goliath was another battle that God fought on behalf of His children by using base things to confuse the wise (1 Samuel 17). The little shepherd boy used his sling and stone to bring down the powerful giant who had been terrorizing the entire army of Israel. David was putting on the armour of God which was unseen to others. The Man of War Himself fought using the hand of David. Hence, the stone did not miss the target - Goliath's head. Awesome God!

Joshua fought in Gibeon and nature agreed with him to ensure victory against the enemies. He requested that the sun stand still and God honoured his request (Joshua 10:11-14). There is absolutely no other choice that anyone can make but to be on the Lord's side. That is the side where the conquerors stay. You can't be away from Him and expect victory. God will fight your battle and you will have uncommon victory, in Jesus' name. However, ensure you are not disconnected from divine instructions. Obedience is key. Trust Him who can do all things and He will reduce the mountains of your problems to mere plains, in Jesus' name.

[13] And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
[14] The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
[15] And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.
[16] But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
[17] And I indeed will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them. So I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen.
[18] Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
[19] And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them.
[20] So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.
[21] Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
[22] So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
[23] And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
[24] Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians.
[25] And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”
[26] Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”
[27] And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
[28] Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.
[29] But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
[30] So the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
[31] Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday day, 21st January, 2026.

God often proves Himself as the Mighty Man in Battle when His children are confronted by formidable enemies and tough opponents. It is only in such instances that they can experience big victories. Sometimes, God may not show up in your situation until the battle seems insurmountable. It is an opportunity for Him to prove His awesome power. There are a good number of such instances recorded in the Bible.

Moses and his people were confronted with the Red Sea on their way to the Promised Land. Humanly speaking, they had to either retreat or get drowned. Amazingly, God came to their rescue by parting the Red Sea. Strangely, the same sea that opened for their deliverance became the cemetery of their enemies. Pharaoh, his horsemen and their chariots got drowned in the sea. Awesome God! A big victory indeed!

In 2 Chronicles chapter 20, Jehoshaphat, the king and the people of Judah were confronted with allied enemies - the Moabites, Ammonites and others. Jehoshaphat did not waste time in crying to God for deliverance and victory over this great opposition. He confessed their helplessness. God saw their sincerity and the Word of the Lord came to him. It was an assurance of victory, God's comforting words put his mind at rest. God asked the singers to go before the soldiers, this was absolutely awkward, but everything is possible with the Almighty. His praises went before, to prove that God dwells in the praises of His people to declare judgement upon their enemies. The victory was unprecedented. The enemies destroyed one another. The children of Judah actually fought no battle. They only stepped in to collect the spoil. This is nothing but a proof of God's awesome power to deliver His own, no matter the fierceness of the enemy.

God is still in the same business. He will fight for you in that battle that seems bigger than you. You only need to learn how to call upon Him in prayer and believe that He who did it before, will do it.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 20th January, 2026.

In the Fire Scripture for today, we read and learnt of how Ezra a Jewish priest called for fasting and prayer for protection for himself and his people, as they journeyed from Babylon to Jerusalem. God answered their prayers and there was peace and protection for them. They arrived their destination safely. Beloved, there is nothing that God cannot do if we commit ourselves to seeking His face. There is nothing too small or too big to take to Him. As He said, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." (Jeremiah 33:3). Are you stuck on the road to destiny fulfilment? Is there a satanic siege against you?. Are you stuck on the road to destiny fulfilment, is there a satanic siege laid against you? He said He will answer you, if you call upon Him. And I pray today, your cry shall elicit divine response, in the name of Jesus.

Dealy beloved, Daniel also sought the face of God in a twenty-one-day prayer and fasting, to seek God's wisdom and protection, did he get what he wanted, Yes, of course he did! Daniel 1:12, 10:2-3 God answered Daniel's prayers and He received visions and insight that helped him interpret dreams and visions and prophesy, he served three kings because of these gifts he received through the 21 days prayer and fasting.

For you to know that fasting and prayer is very important, especially in this dark world, where wickedness is increasing by the day, Jesus also fasted for 40 days and was in the wilderness for that period of time. It was what He needed to jump-start His ministry and that was the reason He succeeded. He is God, but He came as a man to show us the way. He was the One who said without prayer and fasting some demons cannot be cast out (Matthew 4:1-2, Luke 4:1-2).

MFM Daily Devotional Message Monday, 19th January, 2026.

Yesterday, we started the topic above. We want to explore further the story of the epileptic boy that Jesus healed but His disciples couldn't heal. The disciples now secretly went to Jesus to ask Him why they couldn't heal the boy. Jesus' response to them in Matthew 17:21 says, "But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." Jesus made them to know the power of fasting and prayer by hitting the nail on the head. The lesson Jesus wanted them to learn is that problems, challenges and sicknesses are in categories. There are some that a little prayer of faith can clear away. On the other hand, some need serious bombardment of prayer and fasting. If this can settle in the mind of believers of today, then there will be no impossibility on their ways.

Dearly beloved, fasting and prayer can also produce great deliverance. In Esther 4:16-17, a case that looked impossible was settled with three days' dry fasting and prayer. (Esther4:16-17) Esther a Jewish queen fasted for three days to seek God's intervention in saving the Jewish people from persecution and extermination. The people with her and her uncle Mordecai also fasted along with her. God answered her prayers and the Jewish people were spared. Not that alone, the table turned against their chief persecutor and the decree that had been set in motion for their extermination was truncated and they were in pole position to destroy their enemies.

Are you in any kind of trouble? are you being hunted by invisible spirits, are you tired of being threatened? Are you being haunted by invisible spirits? Are you being threatened? You need to wait on the Lord in fasting and prayer. He is just waiting for you to call on Him and He will back you up. Your miracle is waiting for you. Fasting and prayer can do the impossible in your life and God will take the glory.

God's word as taught in the Bible, clearly teaches that Christ wants the lives of His children to be characterised by supernatural works and living. Jesus wants our lives to be a testimony on a daily basis to Him. There are some challenging situations that even our Father in heaven is waiting for our moves, He wants us to take the bull by the horns. Take the initiative. God cannot do everything for us especially, those ones He has already commissioned us to do by ourselves. The gospel of saint Mark 16:18 has this to say, "They shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." This is a typical example of being commissioned to heal the sick, whether demon-inspired or witchcraft-inspired.

What is fasting? Fasting is the act of abstaining from food and sometimes drink for a period of time. It has been in practice right from the days of the Bible. It has been practised for centuries in various cultures and religions for spiritual growth, for health and therapeutic purposes. And also it has brought about dumbfounding miracles. Dear beloved, when you fast and pray along, there is no telling what God can do. Death sentences have been reversed and health challenges that tend towards death have been replaced with good health and restoration. Secrets have been divulged as a result of fasting and prayer. Fasting and prayer helps to get the impossible done.

The advantages of prayer and fasting cannot be over-emphasised. Fasting and prayer brings our spirit to the subjection of the Holy Spirit and mortifies the flesh so that the spirit, which is the candle of God can have clear signals and reception from God. Proverbs 20:27 says, "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the depths of the heart."

[3] Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
[4] When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
[5] But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
[6] And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
[7] So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
[8] When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
[9] For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;
[10] and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”

An encounter with Jesus is the glorious game-changer for anyone who has been short-changed or altered negatively by the critical challenges of life. It was the encounter which Apostle Paul had with Jesus on his way to Damascus that gloriously changed the course of his life. He forsook everything that he might gain all of Christ. "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ" (Philippians 3:7-8).

The Apostles and all who have ever made tangible progress and lasting impact in the business of God's Kingdom are people who encountered His glory. The Lord can use you too as a vessel of blessing to your generation. All you need is an encounter with Jesus. An encounter with Jesus will however interrupt your life. You may lose your life's ambition if that will stand between you and your Lord. An Encounter with Jesus will straighten your life as it did that of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:8-9). An encounter with Jesus will make you to become more serious with God and not to be careless like Samson. An encounter with Jesus will refocus your mind on the Kingdom lifestyle. Encounter with Jesus will wean your heart from the mundane things of this world. It will fill your heart with fresh hunger and thirst for God. It will also help you to live with the understanding that a day is coming whereby you will stand before the Judgement seat of Christ.

The beauty of encounter with Jesus Christ is that your life will never remain the same again. The presence of God will saturate you and the reality of the life of Jesus will pervade your life. The glory of God will permeate your entire life and you shall begin to make impact for God.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Friday, 16th January, 2026.

The encounter Peter and his colleagues experienced with Jesus had a great impact on them. It cost them a price just as it was stated yesterday. The Scripture says "They forsook all and followed Him." What a dramatic turn of events! They forsook all... everything they wanted so badly. Everything they laboured for zealously and pursued passionately. They forsook all... everything they toiled for all night. Everything that snatched away sleep from their eyes. Everything they thought could meet their needs and change their financial status. By an encounter with Jesus, what they considered so dear and indispensable, faded into insignificance. An encounter with Jesus changed their worldview and realigned their purpose with divine agenda. Many are out of alignment with divine purpose because they are not willing to forsake everything for the sake of Jesus.

He is not ready for an encounter with Jesus, who is not willing to lose all that he may gain Him. There are many people who are praying for divine encouter but are not willing to forsake all. The story is narrated in Mark 10:17-25, about the rich young ruler, who wanted to gain eternity with Jesus but was not ready to pay the price. He desperately desired an encounter with Jesus but he was not willing to forsake all that he possessed that he might gain the fullness of Jesus. He was a classic example of religious encounter seekers. There are many people like that in the house of God today. Do you really desire an encounter with Jesus? Are you willing to forsake all? The truth is that many of the things that the devil is using to hinder you from laying your all on the altar for God, are still the same things he is using you to block the manifestation of your greatness for God.

If you truly desire to be a profitable servant and a force to be reckoned with in the Kingdom of God, you need nothing else but an encounter with Jesus.

Encounter has to do with a personal experience with God that causes enduring spiritual effect. It is a definite time in your spiritual journey when you break into a deeper understanding of God's will that eventually changes your spiritual outlook and draws you deeper into God. Encounter is when you meet with God or Jesus Christ in a special way, and you are gloriously ushered into a new realm of overwhelming transformation.

The bitter reality is that a Christian can be active in the Kingdom service without an encounter. That was the case with Isaiah, the Messianic Prophet. From chapter one to five of the book named after him, he was a fiery preacher, declaring divine judgement upon the spiritually backslidden Israel. However, in chapter six, he had an encounter with God that totally overhauled and revolutionized his spiritual life. There are countless numbers of Christians who are serving God but have no relationship with Him. The greatest tragedy is to claim to be a believer, yet without an encounter with Jesus.

There is an encounter that precedes every spiritual renewal, every spiritual exploit, and repositioning for glory. There is an encounter that must happen for you to fulfil your destiny. There is an encounter that must happen for your star to shine, for your glory to manifest, for your breakthrough to spring forth, and for your ministry or calling to start making impact. Simon Peter and other Apostles had such a deep and genuine encounter.

In our Fire Scripture, we read the account of the encounter that Peter and his partners had with Jesus. They had toiled all night without catching a single fish. However, an encounter with Jesus Christ changed such an ugly trajectory of their story. Meanwhile, the profound lesson of their encounter with Jesus is stated in verse eleven, "... they forsook all and followed Him." Encounter with Jesus Christ will always cost you something dear. It may be that very thing you have been cherishing for many years. Are you seriously interested in having an encounter with Jesus?

[3] And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
[4] But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”
[5] Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
[6] And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
[7] Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
[8] And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
[9] Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.
[10] For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’
[11] and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
[12] And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 14th January, 2026.

We shall round off this discourse on the roles of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers today. The Holy Spirit is believers' standby because He provides them guidance, strength and empowerment in various situations. He serves as believers' standby in several ways:
(1) He is always available, willing and ready to assist, guide and empower believers in every situation. In the Bible, Jesus, the Apostles, Peter, Paul and David all experienced the Holy Spirit as their standby on different occasions.
(2) He is with believers everywhere they go and is present with them at all times, providing comfort, peace and reassurance. Whenever a believer is at his wits end, troubled or depressed and in need of guidance and direction, he or she should remember that the Holy Spirit is standing by, ready to act immediately He is called upon
(3) He empowers believers to face challenges, overcome obstacles, and live a life of faith and obedience.

In playing His noble roles as believers' standby, the Holy Spirit does the following:
(1) He provides guidance by helping believers make wise decisions and navigate life's challenges. It is a wonderful thing to have the Holy Spirit always available, willing and ready to help us make right decisions on life issues
(2) He offers comfort to believers and brings them peace as well as reassurance in times of distress or uncertainty
(3) He empowers believers for service. By so doing, He enables them to serve others, share their faith and live the life of a witness.

Dearly beloved, to avail yourself of the Holy Spirit's role as standby, you need to do the following:
(1) Seek a deeper relationship with God. You should cultivate intimacy with God through prayer, worship, and the study of His word (the Bible)
(2) Pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance and wisdom in decision-making and daily life
(3) Listen to the Holy Spirit's voice; pay attention to His prompting and nudges in your heart and mind
(4) Align your life with biblical teachings and principles. Obey God's word
(5) Surrender your life to the Spirit's guidance and empowerment
(6) Believe that God is in control and working everything out for your good.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 13th January, 2026.

We all need spiritual strength to navigate life's challenges and live consistent mountain-top life. As believers, the Holy Spirit is our source of strength. Isaiah 40:29 (AMP) says that God ...gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Spiritual strength refers to the empowerment that the Holy Spirit provides, which enables believers to live a life pleasing to God, overcoming sin and challenges (Galatians 5:16-18). The inner strength the Spirit provides enables believers to face trials, tribulations, and difficulties with confidence and hope (Ephesians 3:16-21).

The Bible is replete with instances when the Holy Spirit acted as strengthener to believers. For instance, the Holy Spirit empowered Jesus for ministry, enabling Him to preach, heal, and cast out demons (Luke 4:14, 18-19). Also, the Spirit gave the apostles power and boldness to witness for Christ, performing miracles and signs (Acts 2:43, 4:33). As a Strengthener, the Holy Spirit gave Apostle Peter the boldness to preach to the Gentiles, despite opposition (Acts 10-11). In Paul's ministry, we also saw the Holy Spirit's role as a Strengthener. The Spirit of God empowered Paul for His missionary journeys, enabling him to preach and establish churches (Acts 13:2-4, 16:6-10). The Spirit gave David the inner strength that enabled him to persevere during his times of trials before and after he ascended the throne. The same Spirit gave Paul the strength to endure his thorn in the flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). The Holy Spirit gave Joshua the strength to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 31:23, Joshua 1:5-9). Beloved, no matter the hurdle you need to scale, the task you need to perform or the challenge you need to surmount, the wise thing to do is to seek strength or enabling from the Holy Spirit. When you do, the seemingly impossible will become possible for you.

Therefore, in your academics, career, business, finances or ministry, whatever task or challenge you have to handle, ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you. Don't rely on your ability or strength but trust Him to empower you. You only need to ask in faith and He will.
