[21] Now David came to the two hundred men who had been so weary that they could not follow David, whom they also had made to stay at the Brook Besor. So they went out to meet David and to meet the people who were with him. And when David came near the people, he greeted them.

[22] Then all the wicked and worthless men of those who went with David answered and said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not give them any of the spoil that we have recovered, except for every man’s wife and children, that they may lead them away and depart.”

[23] But David said, “My brethren, you shall not do so with what the Lord has given us, who has preserved us and delivered into our hand the troop that came against us.

[24] For who will heed you in this matter? But as his part is who goes down to the battle, so shall his part be who stays by the supplies; they shall share alike.”

[25] So it was, from that day forward; he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day.

[26] Now when David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the spoil to the elders of Judah, to his friends, saying, “Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the Lord”—

[27] to those who were in Bethel, those who were in Ramoth of the South, those who were in Jattir,

MFM Daily Devotional Message Friday, 29th May, 2026.
To be large-hearted means to be generous, to be sympathetic towards others, kind and charitable. The trait of largeheartedness is usually borne out of a heart of love. David exhibited this trait; he handled issues with understanding and love.

Today's Fire Scripture provides an example of David's largeheartedness. He and four hundred men had gone after the invading Amalekites and recovered their wives, children and goods. Two hundred men had stayed behind because they were too tired to go with the others. When they returned, some wicked men suggested that nothing should be given to the men who had stayed back. However, David, being a good leader, decided that everyone would get a share of the spoil. Beyond that, he also sent presents to the elders of Judah, his friends. This act showed generosity.

As a Christian, it is a good thing to be generous with the resources God has placed in your hands. When you realise that you are really not the owner of anything, you will be more willing to give. Giving is not limited to only your family, it extends even to strangers. Giving is a character of God; He gave His only begotten Son for the salvation of mankind, He is willing to give anything through that Son, as long as it lines up with His will. We also should not hold on to resources when we have the power (Proverbs 3:27-28, Galatians 6:10), knowing that God loves a cheerful giver.

Beloved, make up your mind today to share the resources God has placed in your hands with other people; this is a sure way of receiving multiplication (Proverbs 11:25). Your reward may not necessarily come from the one you gave to, but it will surely come because God does not owe any man. May the Lord make you a cheerful giver, in Jesus' name.

David was the last son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite. His mother's name is not mentioned in the Bible but we know he had a mother. David was faithful to both his parents.

In 1 Samuel 17, we see David portrayed as an obedient child. He ran his father's errand without complaining. If he had refused to go on that errand, he would have missed the chance to kill Goliath and rise to fame. Also, while he was still running from Saul for his life, he made provision for his parents. He took them to the king of Moab since they were most likely too old to run with him. David knew there was no way his parents could be safe in Israel while he himself was wanted so he took them to safety. This was a sign of a responsible child.

Beloved, God wants us to also be responsible towards our parents biological and non biological. Parents are not the only ones who help children. It gets to a point where children also help parents. As much as we do not encourage parents to be a burden on their children, we also do not advise children to abandon parents in their old age.

There are verses of scripture that talk about honouring one's parents. One of the ten commandments is to honour your father and mother, it carries with it the promise of long life and wellness in your possession (Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 5:16, Ephesians 6:2). Jesus also emphasised the importance of honouring parents and condemned the tradition that allowed children to dishonour their parents (Matthew 15:3-6). This command still holds today. God wants us to take care of our parents till old age and death. Don't abandon your responsibilities towards your parents for whatever reason; they have a measure of authority over you and it is important that they bless you rather than curse you. No matter your position in the family, first child, middle child or last child, take care of your parents and God will bless you for it, in Jesus' name.

As we celebrate Children's Day all over the world today, it is appropriate to put the spotlight on these precious and blessed gifts from the Lord and thank God, the Giver of all, for them.

The Bible refers to children as a heritage because they are handed to us by our heavenly Father. The Bible describes children in glowing terms, revealing the importance that God attaches to them. Psalm 127:3-5 refers to children as a heritage and a reward from the Lord. It also likens children to arrows in the hand of a mighty man. This is because children, like arrows, have the potential to make a positive impact in the world, achieving great things and bringing joy to their families. Similarly, in Psalm 128:3, children are likened to olive shoots and that symbolises their potential for growth and fruitfulness. To further stress their importance, in Matthew 18:3-4, children are seen as models of humility and innocence and adults are enjoined to approach God with childlike faith. In Mark 10:14-16, Jesus welcomes children, emphasising their value and worth in God's eyes. Jacob called them the blessings that God has graciously given him (Genesis 33:5).

Therefore, parents should see themselves as stewards and purpose partners with God in raising and training their children. God will hold them accountable for how the precious souls He put in their trust and care turn out in life and eternity. Just as arrows are dependent on the archer for direction, guidance and movement, children also depend on their parents for guidance, support and direction in life. Parents must train and prepare their children, teaching them valuable skills, morals and principles to help them succeed in life. Without parental inputs and Godly counsel, many children will not reach their potential, fulfil their destinies or make impact in life.

Dear Christian parent, you must learn and play your biblically-assigned roles in shaping your children's spiritual, moral and emotional development:
(1) Instruct them in the way of the Lord by sharing Bible stories with them, teaching them to pray and helping them to develop personal relationship with the Lord
(2) Model Christlike behaviour to them
(3) Pray and intercede for them
(4) Discipline and correct them
(5) Help them to discover their purpose in Christ.

Happy children's day!

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 26th May, 2026.
For the past two days, we have considered the eating disorders that have to do with restriction of food intake. Today, we consider another form of eating disorders which is binge eating or overeating. In this case, you eat very quickly, keep eating even when you're not hungry or when you're full without any form of discipline. Gluttony can fall under this category.

The Bible regards gluttony as a sin (Proverbs 23:20-21). It shows a lack of discipline; it makes an individual behave without control. This was what Esau exhibited when he sold his birthright to Jacob (Genesis 25:33-34; Hebrews 12:16). Any desire that makes an individual lose control of him/herself is not from God; it is rather a ploy of the devil to destroy such an individual.

A person may binge-eat in response to stress, anger, boredom, loneliness or a distressing situation. Over indulgence is never a good thing, no matter what excuse is used to justify it.

God wants His children to be disciplined in every area, including in their relationship with food. He has given us His Holy Spirit Who bears in us the fruit of self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We should allow the Holy Spirit work in us to do the will of the Father.

Also, binge eating is a wrong response to adverse situations. Psalm 55:22 encourages us to cast our burdens on the Lord. So, instead of binging on chocolate or hard drugs or whatever else, take your issues to the Lord in prayer. He cares about you and He will answer you, only if you call.

If you find yourself struggling with binge eating or gluttony, the Lord wants to help you. The first thing to do is to give your life to Christ if you haven't already done so. Then, you need to ask the Holy Spirit to baptise you with the spirit of self-control. In addition, it would be a good idea to get an accountability partner, someone who will keep you committed to your goal, preferably a Christian. I pray that the Lord will deliver you, in Jesus' name.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Monday, 25th May, 2026.
Today, we continue our discourse on the issue of eating disorders. We have already established that there is a demon behind eating disorders. Another issue with this condition is that you make yourself an idol by being constantly fixated on your appearance. Scriptures advise us to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). God does not want us to idolise ourselves as this is a sign of selfishness; He rather wants us to worship only Him. When your attention shifts to your body as a form of validation, you are already worshipping the idol of self.

Beloved, God created you in His own image, after His likeness (Genesis 1:25-26). It is therefore a grievous error on your part to think that God made a mistake while creating you or that you have to look a certain way to gain acceptance. Some people look at themselves and conclude that God was unfair to them; this thought pattern reveals a damaging level of ignorance. This kind of ignorance leads people into all sorts of wrong practices like intentional starvation. Your refusal to nourish your body with food because of your distorted reasoning is wrong. The Bible states clearly that your body is the temple of God and you owe God a responsibility to take care of His temple. This means that you need to do the things that will enrich your body systems and avoid destroying your body through harmful practices like refusing to eat or purging with laxatives and the likes.

If you are caged by an eating disorder, Jesus is willing to help you and set you free. You need to first give your life to Him and then, cry to Him for help. In addition, you can seek medical advice in case any harm has already been done to your body. As much as it's a good thing to bring the body under subjection through fasting, the body should also be well nourished when one is not fasting.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 24th May, 2026.
An eating disorder is a mental health condition that affects a person's relationship with food and, in turn, their overall health. Psychologists have identified several types of eating disorders and how they affect people. We will be discussing what the word of God says about eating disorders.

The first thing to note is that there is a wicked power behind every eating disorder, it is the demon of self-destruction. This demon is out to push people into practices that will harm them. This is the same demon that makes people smoke, drink alcohol, use hard drugs, use sex toys, draw tattoos and generally do things that are harmful to their health. It is one of the devices of the devil to attack the people of God. Children of God must refuse to be brought under the bondage of this wicked spirit.

God created food before creating man so that man would not starve. God freely gave man every fruit producing tree, beast of the earth and fowl of the air as food (Genesis 1:29-30). It is, however, unfortunate that some people fail to take advantage of God's provision by their refusal to eat. Eating disorders are usually characterised by the refusal to eat food or severe restriction of food intake. This behaviour is not a result of fasting or any religious obligation; it rather stems from a distorted body image. These individuals might see themselves as overweight when, in fact, they are dangerously underweight. This leads them to excessively exercise or engage in other purging behaviours.

The word of God condemns putting our trust in ourselves. By engaging in the above listed behaviours, you are attempting to take control of your life when you are not the Creator. Of course, anyone who tries to control his or her life will fail woefully (Matthew 16:25). That is why eating disorders result in terrible medical conditions and ultimately, death, if not worked upon.

Beloved, make up your mind today not to fall into this trap of eating disorders and the Lord will help you, in Jesus' name.

Building a kingdom marriage requires intentional effort, commitment and the grace of God. A kingdom marriage is one that reflects God's design and purpose for marriage, where both partners are united in their love for God and each other.

I recall the story of Tunde and Ada, a couple who have been married for over 30 years. Tunde and Ada faced numerous challenges, including financial difficulties and health issues. However, their unwavering faith in God and their commitment to each other helped them overcome these obstacles. They made it a point to pray together daily, study the Bible, and attend church regularly. Their love for each other grew stronger as they leaned on God's word and sought His guidance in their marriage.

Similarly, there's the story of John and Mary, a couple from Kenya who struggled with communication issues early in their marriage. They decided to seek counsel from their pastor, who encouraged them to practice active listening and to always speak with kindness and love. John and Mary also joined a couples' fellowship group, where they learned from other Christian couples and gained valuable insights on building a strong marriage. Their dedication to improving their relationship and their reliance on God's wisdom transformed their marriage into a beautiful testimony of God's love and grace.

God's word provides guidance on building a kingdom marriage. Genesis 2:24 says, "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh." This verse emphasises the importance of unity and oneness in marriage. Ephesians 5:22-33 instructs husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and wives to respect their husbands. These principles of love, respect, and mutual submission are essential for a healthy and godly marriage. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 reminds us of the characteristics of love: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." By embodying these qualities, we can build a marriage that honours God and reflects His love.

God is still in the business of using little things to confound the mighty. David, a little shepherd boy, came into divine appointment when he was sent by his father to take food to his brothers on the battle field. There, he heard the boasting of Goliath, a giant. By size and stature, David was no match for Goliath. However, God was ready to demonstrate yet another of His awesome and mysterious ways of fixing issues. David could not go in the armour of King Saul for it was too heavy for him. Rather, he went in the unseen full armour of God. He went with a simple but powerful weapon to destroy this enemy of God and His people - his sling and five stones. The giant was brought down like a mere tiny bird in the sky. What an awesome manifestation of God's power!

Beloved, let God use you also as He did David, to bring down the harassing giant and boastful enemy. Paul, the apostle, encourages believers to put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:11). When you are dressed in the full armour of God, you become an arrow in the hand of God to confound His enemies, just like David was. You may be of small stature but you will be used by God to accomplish mighty things.

I'm convinced that you now fully understand the mind of God. Whatever you have or have become is made possible by God. It will be foolishness to use the same as a stumbling block between you and God. The stubborn and hard hearted who prefer to remain enemies of God, like Goliath, would be brought down in humiliation and death. Humble yourself beloved, draw near to God and He will draw closer to you. Open your heart to God and Jesus will be your guest. Not only you, but your entire household shall be candidates of divine blessings, in Jesus' name.

God honours those who acknowledge Him as God, and welcomes to His bosom as many as acknowledge their sins and are ready to repent and receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. He has promised not to cast them away for any reason at all (John 6:37).

God is no respecter of persons. He doesn't judge by your stature, your financial status, your age, your strength or accomplishments. Rather, He uses the base things of this world to confound the wise. Your real worth is measured by the level of your surrender to God, your Maker, through Christ Jesus. Are you born again? I celebrate your new life in Christ. Are you still swimming in the ocean of ignorance, postponing the day of salvation? Do you claim to be born again but are wallowing deep in secret sins? God knows and sees you. Today, let Him meet and dine with you as He did with Zacchaeus.

The Bible tells us about Zacchaeus, a tax collector. Although he was a rich man, yet, he was a sinner (Luke 19:2-9). Despite his physical limitation of having a short stature, he put up a strategy that many men of the same physical and spiritual condition would not think of. He chose to climb a tree that made him conspicuous enough for Jesus to see and acknowledge. Beyond climbing the tree, Zacchaeus had a heart that longed to meet the Master. Many tall, handsome men, equally rich and of exalted position would have been present on that day. However, the readiness of Zacchaeus' heart caught the attention of the Saviour. The end was a divine visitation that did not leave his life the same way. He was transformed.

Beloved, I encourage you to open your heart to Jesus today and allow Him to carry out a divine transformation in and through you. The book of Ecclesiastes 12:13 says that to fear God and keep His commandments is the whole duty of man. Make this instruction your watchword henceforth and the Lord will bless you, in Jesus' name.
