[16] So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
[17] Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
[18] And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
[19] Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
[20] So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
[21] However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 18th January, 2026.

God's word as taught in the Bible, clearly teaches that Christ wants the lives of His children to be characterised by supernatural works and living. Jesus wants our lives to be a testimony on a daily basis to Him. There are some challenging situations that even our Father in heaven is waiting for our moves, He wants us to take the bull by the horns. Take the initiative. God cannot do everything for us especially, those ones He has already commissioned us to do by ourselves. The gospel of saint Mark 16:18 has this to say, "They shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." This is a typical example of being commissioned to heal the sick, whether demon-inspired or witchcraft-inspired.

What is fasting? Fasting is the act of abstaining from food and sometimes drink for a period of time. It has been in practice right from the days of the Bible. It has been practised for centuries in various cultures and religions for spiritual growth, for health and therapeutic purposes. And also it has brought about dumbfounding miracles. Dear beloved, when you fast and pray along, there is no telling what God can do. Death sentences have been reversed and health challenges that tend towards death have been replaced with good health and restoration. Secrets have been divulged as a result of fasting and prayer. Fasting and prayer helps to get the impossible done.

The advantages of prayer and fasting cannot be over-emphasised. Fasting and prayer brings our spirit to the subjection of the Holy Spirit and mortifies the flesh so that the spirit, which is the candle of God can have clear signals and reception from God. Proverbs 20:27 says, "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the depths of the heart."

[3] Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
[4] When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
[5] But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
[6] And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
[7] So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
[8] When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
[9] For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;
[10] and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”

An encounter with Jesus is the glorious game-changer for anyone who has been short-changed or altered negatively by the critical challenges of life. It was the encounter which Apostle Paul had with Jesus on his way to Damascus that gloriously changed the course of his life. He forsook everything that he might gain all of Christ. "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ" (Philippians 3:7-8).

The Apostles and all who have ever made tangible progress and lasting impact in the business of God's Kingdom are people who encountered His glory. The Lord can use you too as a vessel of blessing to your generation. All you need is an encounter with Jesus. An encounter with Jesus will however interrupt your life. You may lose your life's ambition if that will stand between you and your Lord. An Encounter with Jesus will straighten your life as it did that of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:8-9). An encounter with Jesus will make you to become more serious with God and not to be careless like Samson. An encounter with Jesus will refocus your mind on the Kingdom lifestyle. Encounter with Jesus will wean your heart from the mundane things of this world. It will fill your heart with fresh hunger and thirst for God. It will also help you to live with the understanding that a day is coming whereby you will stand before the Judgement seat of Christ.

The beauty of encounter with Jesus Christ is that your life will never remain the same again. The presence of God will saturate you and the reality of the life of Jesus will pervade your life. The glory of God will permeate your entire life and you shall begin to make impact for God.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Friday, 16th January, 2026.

The encounter Peter and his colleagues experienced with Jesus had a great impact on them. It cost them a price just as it was stated yesterday. The Scripture says "They forsook all and followed Him." What a dramatic turn of events! They forsook all... everything they wanted so badly. Everything they laboured for zealously and pursued passionately. They forsook all... everything they toiled for all night. Everything that snatched away sleep from their eyes. Everything they thought could meet their needs and change their financial status. By an encounter with Jesus, what they considered so dear and indispensable, faded into insignificance. An encounter with Jesus changed their worldview and realigned their purpose with divine agenda. Many are out of alignment with divine purpose because they are not willing to forsake everything for the sake of Jesus.

He is not ready for an encounter with Jesus, who is not willing to lose all that he may gain Him. There are many people who are praying for divine encouter but are not willing to forsake all. The story is narrated in Mark 10:17-25, about the rich young ruler, who wanted to gain eternity with Jesus but was not ready to pay the price. He desperately desired an encounter with Jesus but he was not willing to forsake all that he possessed that he might gain the fullness of Jesus. He was a classic example of religious encounter seekers. There are many people like that in the house of God today. Do you really desire an encounter with Jesus? Are you willing to forsake all? The truth is that many of the things that the devil is using to hinder you from laying your all on the altar for God, are still the same things he is using you to block the manifestation of your greatness for God.

If you truly desire to be a profitable servant and a force to be reckoned with in the Kingdom of God, you need nothing else but an encounter with Jesus.

Encounter has to do with a personal experience with God that causes enduring spiritual effect. It is a definite time in your spiritual journey when you break into a deeper understanding of God's will that eventually changes your spiritual outlook and draws you deeper into God. Encounter is when you meet with God or Jesus Christ in a special way, and you are gloriously ushered into a new realm of overwhelming transformation.

The bitter reality is that a Christian can be active in the Kingdom service without an encounter. That was the case with Isaiah, the Messianic Prophet. From chapter one to five of the book named after him, he was a fiery preacher, declaring divine judgement upon the spiritually backslidden Israel. However, in chapter six, he had an encounter with God that totally overhauled and revolutionized his spiritual life. There are countless numbers of Christians who are serving God but have no relationship with Him. The greatest tragedy is to claim to be a believer, yet without an encounter with Jesus.

There is an encounter that precedes every spiritual renewal, every spiritual exploit, and repositioning for glory. There is an encounter that must happen for you to fulfil your destiny. There is an encounter that must happen for your star to shine, for your glory to manifest, for your breakthrough to spring forth, and for your ministry or calling to start making impact. Simon Peter and other Apostles had such a deep and genuine encounter.

In our Fire Scripture, we read the account of the encounter that Peter and his partners had with Jesus. They had toiled all night without catching a single fish. However, an encounter with Jesus Christ changed such an ugly trajectory of their story. Meanwhile, the profound lesson of their encounter with Jesus is stated in verse eleven, "... they forsook all and followed Him." Encounter with Jesus Christ will always cost you something dear. It may be that very thing you have been cherishing for many years. Are you seriously interested in having an encounter with Jesus?

[5] Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
[6] And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
[7] Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
[8] And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
[9] Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.
[10] For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 14th January, 2026.

We shall round off this discourse on the roles of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers today. The Holy Spirit is believers' standby because He provides them guidance, strength and empowerment in various situations. He serves as believers' standby in several ways:
(1) He is always available, willing and ready to assist, guide and empower believers in every situation. In the Bible, Jesus, the Apostles, Peter, Paul and David all experienced the Holy Spirit as their standby on different occasions.
(2) He is with believers everywhere they go and is present with them at all times, providing comfort, peace and reassurance. Whenever a believer is at his wits end, troubled or depressed and in need of guidance and direction, he or she should remember that the Holy Spirit is standing by, ready to act immediately He is called upon
(3) He empowers believers to face challenges, overcome obstacles, and live a life of faith and obedience.

In playing His noble roles as believers' standby, the Holy Spirit does the following:
(1) He provides guidance by helping believers make wise decisions and navigate life's challenges. It is a wonderful thing to have the Holy Spirit always available, willing and ready to help us make right decisions on life issues
(2) He offers comfort to believers and brings them peace as well as reassurance in times of distress or uncertainty
(3) He empowers believers for service. By so doing, He enables them to serve others, share their faith and live the life of a witness.

Dearly beloved, to avail yourself of the Holy Spirit's role as standby, you need to do the following:
(1) Seek a deeper relationship with God. You should cultivate intimacy with God through prayer, worship, and the study of His word (the Bible)
(2) Pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance and wisdom in decision-making and daily life
(3) Listen to the Holy Spirit's voice; pay attention to His prompting and nudges in your heart and mind
(4) Align your life with biblical teachings and principles. Obey God's word
(5) Surrender your life to the Spirit's guidance and empowerment
(6) Believe that God is in control and working everything out for your good.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 13th January, 2026.

We all need spiritual strength to navigate life's challenges and live consistent mountain-top life. As believers, the Holy Spirit is our source of strength. Isaiah 40:29 (AMP) says that God ...gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Spiritual strength refers to the empowerment that the Holy Spirit provides, which enables believers to live a life pleasing to God, overcoming sin and challenges (Galatians 5:16-18). The inner strength the Spirit provides enables believers to face trials, tribulations, and difficulties with confidence and hope (Ephesians 3:16-21).

The Bible is replete with instances when the Holy Spirit acted as strengthener to believers. For instance, the Holy Spirit empowered Jesus for ministry, enabling Him to preach, heal, and cast out demons (Luke 4:14, 18-19). Also, the Spirit gave the apostles power and boldness to witness for Christ, performing miracles and signs (Acts 2:43, 4:33). As a Strengthener, the Holy Spirit gave Apostle Peter the boldness to preach to the Gentiles, despite opposition (Acts 10-11). In Paul's ministry, we also saw the Holy Spirit's role as a Strengthener. The Spirit of God empowered Paul for His missionary journeys, enabling him to preach and establish churches (Acts 13:2-4, 16:6-10). The Spirit gave David the inner strength that enabled him to persevere during his times of trials before and after he ascended the throne. The same Spirit gave Paul the strength to endure his thorn in the flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). The Holy Spirit gave Joshua the strength to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 31:23, Joshua 1:5-9). Beloved, no matter the hurdle you need to scale, the task you need to perform or the challenge you need to surmount, the wise thing to do is to seek strength or enabling from the Holy Spirit. When you do, the seemingly impossible will become possible for you.

Therefore, in your academics, career, business, finances or ministry, whatever task or challenge you have to handle, ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you. Don't rely on your ability or strength but trust Him to empower you. You only need to ask in faith and He will.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Monday, 12th January, 2026.

Beloved, as a believer, all of God's power, strength, comfort, creativity and help are available to you at all times through the Holy Spirit that dwells in you. Therefore, you will be forfeiting a great privilege and bearing needless pain when you do not seek His counsel, guidance, wisdom and comfort in times of need. Why is it important that you seek the counsel and direction of the Holy Spirit? 1 Corinthians 2:11 affirms that no one knows the mind of God except the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in the best position to be your counsellor and help you navigate life's journey and challenges.

As a believer, the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and help you understand and apply God's word to your life and situation (John 16:13). He will also guide you in your walk with Him (Romans 8:14). He will convicts you of sin, righteousness and judgement, helping you to grow in holiness and obedience (John 16:8-11). He will give you the spirit of power, love and self-discipline, enabling them to live a life pleasing to God (2 Timothy 2:17). In addition, He will provide you with comfort, peace, hope and joy (Acts 9:31 and Romans 15:13).

As your counsellor, the Holy Spirit will help you understand and apply the word of God. He will guide you in decision making and problem solving. He will give you peace, hope and reassurance in times of need. He will also enable you to live a life of obedience, holiness and service. In James 1:5, the Bible says that whoever lacks wisdom should ask God for it. You should ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and discernment. He is available to help you know the will, purpose and plan of God per time. He will also provide you counsel and support when you find yourself struggling with emotions like anxiety, fear, grief, etc. (Romans 15:13). Also, when you face uncertainty, you can ask Him for guidance and reassurance (Proverbs 3:5-6). To enjoy the counselling ministry of the Holy Spirit, you must be born again, pray to Him to counsel and guide you, listen to His gentle nudges, convictions, guidance and be sensitive to His leading. Read and meditate on the Scriptures regularly and obey His counsel and guidance always.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 11th January, 2026.

As New Testament believers, we have two intercessors: Jesus Christ, our High Priest in heaven (Hebrews 7:25) and the Holy Spirit on earth. Both of them always present our matter before the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of grace and supplication (Zechariah 12:10). He teaches us (believers) to pray. He intercedes for us (Romans 8:26).

Intercession is to pray on behalf of another person. As a believer, this should be part of your prayer life. We should make it a habit to pray for other Christians, our leaders, our church and our nation, among others. However, the truth is that many believers struggle with prayer and intercession. They are not consistent with their Quiet Time, daily devotion, vigils and wish they do better in all of these so as to enjoy closer fellowship with God. This is where the Holy Spirit plays a significant role in our lives. The Bible underscores this point and specifies this role in Romans 8:26-27, "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

The word "infirmities" refers to our weakness. Romans 8:26 identifies what that weakness is: "We know not what we ought to pray and how to pray; we do not always know exactly what to ask God." The Holy Spirit comes to us in this situation and in our other problems, makes those problems His own and takes them to God on our behalf. He helps us to pray according to God's will and does so with deep, wordless sigh. One truth you should never forget is that the Holy Spirit cannot pray amiss. That is why His intercession for us is always very rewarding. He knows the will of God and prays for each of us according to the will of the Father. It is quite gratifying to know that the Holy Spirit acts as a mediator, pleading for believers' needs before God.

The term "paraclete", which Jesus used to describe the Holy Spirit, is also translated as "advocate" in English. So, John 14:26 in another Bible version also reads, "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." Jesus said this to make His disciples believe that their relationship with Him would still continue after He might have left them. He had been their advocate all along. The new advocate He promised is the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, which the world does not know but the disciples do. He will teach them all things and remind them of everything that Jesus said.

The Holy Spirit as advocate means someone who pleads another's cause, defends, or intercedes on their behalf. In other words, He is God's representative or helper, who works alongside believers, guiding them, comforting them, and pleading with God for their needs.

How can we experience the Holy Spirit as our advocate? The Bible describes the devil as the accuser. He accuses us day and night in God's presence, taking our sins before Him (Revelation 12:10), but the Holy Spirit is called our Advocate. He defends us. He testifies with our spirits that we are God's children (Romans 8:16). He helps us in our weakness (Romans 8:26a). He brings us God's forgiveness and the ability to change to please God. He also gives us peace in our souls.

The Holy Spirit teaches us the laws or commandments of God so that we can live by them. He is our legal counsellor. He defends us from spiritual accusations and intercedes for us with God, especially when we cannot articulate our prayers effectively.

Therefore, by His role as our Advocate, the Holy Spirit ensures that we are not condemned but justified when the accuser goes before God with our sins. Our relationship with the Father and the Son is spared and kept intact as He serves as our advocate or legal counsellor. Beloved, it is risky and costly to live your life without the legal advice of the Holy Spirit!

MFM Daily Devotional Message Friday, 9th January, 2026.

As believers, the Holy Spirit plays the all-important role of a helper in our lives. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed and feel that life has handed us more than we can handle or that we have been called to accomplish more than we can. We need to partner with the Holy Spirit and give Him room to play His roles as a helper in our everyday lives. This will enable us to record resounding victory and phenomenal success where others are recording defeat and failure. The Holy Spirit helps us (believers) in the following ways:

First, the Holy Spirit convinces and convicts unbelievers of sin, draws them to Christ and makes them see their need for salvation. After salvation, He continues to work in the lives of believers, helping them to grow and mature spiritually. He is the Spirit of truth; He testifies of Jesus to us and points us to Jesus. He also gives us the boldness to witness about Jesus.

Second, the Holy Spirit teaches us all things and brings to our remembrance the things that Jesus had taught us (John 14:26). In Luke 12:11-12, Jesus, affirming this role of the Holy Spirit, told His disciples not to panic when they have to speak in defence of the gospel because the Holy Spirit would teach them what to say. In 1 Corinthians 2:3, Apostle Paul revealed that the Holy Spirit interprets spiritual truths to us and fills us with spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Finally, the Holy Spirit helps us by giving us specific instructions. We must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's promptings all the time and carry out His instructions to the letter. We must make it a habit to always ask Him what He wants us to do in all situations. The Holy Spirit helped the apostles on many occasions. In Acts 13:2, while the apostles were worshipping and fasting, He told them, "Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them."

Beloved, the Lord has given you His Spirit to help you overcome challenges and solve problems, just as He did for Othniel, Joshua, Samson, David, Ezekiel, Daniel and the apostles. Make His Spirit your senior partner and seek His help today!
