MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 3rd May, 2026.
Yesterday, I explained that becoming a solution is a selfless act that has turned many destinies around and brought tremendous benefits to those who chose that noble path. I advised you to choose to be a solution or problem solver rather than being a problem, problem creator or multiplier. I also gave you the examples of David and Joseph who rose to prominence because they solved problems.

Solving problems for people, organisation, nation, and so on will make you a value-adding and valuable person. It will endear you to others and increase your social wealth. When Pharaoh's baker and butler had dreams and needed interpretation, Joseph solved the problem. One of the benefactors mentioned him to Pharaoh. Problem solving was the vehicle or elevator that took Joseph, Daniel, the Lord Jesus and His apostles to their land of greatness.

The Lord, Jesus Christ, is our perfect example. He is the only answer and perfect solution to the problem of sin. His precious blood was the only acceptable sacrifice for atoning for the sin of mankind, assuaging God and removing divine judgement and condemnation that man deserved. Jesus, the Lamb of God, in being a solution, was selfless and self-sacrificing. He gave His all, laid down His life to redeem us back to God. Sin was the reason we lost out with God. It was the trusted weapon that the devil used to sever the bond and fellowship between Adam and Eve and God. It was what he used to steal the dominion, glory and peace they had. No one in heaven or on earth was qualified to redeem mankind to God. It was only Jesus, the Son of God and His Lamb. It was a great and major problem Jesus came to solve. He did not waver in His resolve. His focus was unbroken and His devotion unstinted. The Bible says that looking at the joy that was set before Him, Jesus endured the pain and shame of the cross. He paid the price or ransom with His once for all sacrifice and redeemed mankind. What a feat! The Bible affirms His reward, "Wherefore God has highly exalted him and given him a name that is above all names. That at the mention of the name of Jesus, every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father."

Beloved, make Jesus your perfect example. Do not give in to discouragement and distraction neither allow any obstacle or opposition to stop you in your bid to be a solution. Your reward will be unquantifiable and amazing.

Genesis 41:25-44
[25] Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do:

[26] The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years; the dreams are one.

[27] And the seven thin and ugly cows which came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads blighted by the east wind are seven years of famine.

[28] This is the thing which I have spoken to Pharaoh. God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do.

[29] Indeed seven years of great plenty will come throughout all the land of Egypt;

[30] but after them seven years of famine will arise, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine will deplete the land.

[31] So the plenty will not be known in the land because of the famine following, for it will be very severe.

[32] And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

[33] “Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt.

[34] Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years.

[35] And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.

[36] Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine.”

[37] So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.

[38] And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”

[39] Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you.

[40] You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”

[41] And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

[42] Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.

[43] And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt.

[44] Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”

Someone said, "Don't find fault, find remedy." You can be the problem. You can be part of the problem, and you can be the remedy. The latter is the best position to be. Problem solvers are assets. Fault finders are not.

As a member of a team or an organisation, your focus should be on contributing significantly to the achievement of your team or organisation's visions or goals. You can achieve that good goal by not finding fault, not complaining, or murmuring because this is capable of dampening the spirit of your team members or demotivating them. The more you complain or find fault or trade blames, the more difficult it will be to find solution or remedy to the problem being faced. Besides, fault finding and trading blames among tearn members will create strife, disunity, and these are killers of creativity and innovation. The atmosphere to brainstorm, think outside the box and come up with brilliant ideas that will put an end to the challenge will be stifled or destroyed.

David was a solution. When he got to the battlefront, he did not find fault with the army of Israel, who cringed and exhibited fear each time Goliath came out to challenge them to a fight. Rather, his focus was on how to be a solution to the problem that confronted his people and nation. The heathen were challenging His sovereign God and defying His army. How did he become a solution? He volunteered to fight Goliath. As a teenager, it was a big risk to his life. However, God was with him and His anointing was actively at work in his life. David eventually killed Goliath because he trusted in His God and was marvellously helped. From the moment he recorded that victory over the Philistine giant, his profile kept rising and rising. He never lost any battle.

Joseph was also a solution. The magnitude of problem he solved was great. It was a national problem. He interpreted the dream of Pharaoh and provided economic plans and strategies to beat the famine and acute hunger that hit the land and the whole world at that time. Joseph's unusual economic strategies make Egypt very rich and other nations went there to buy food. Joseph enjoyed divine elevation and prominence. His destiny was fulfilled because he was a problem solver.

Representing Christ in the workplace is not only about preaching the gospel but also about living out the teachings of Jesus through our actions and attitudes. Our workplace is a significant part of our lives, and it provides a unique opportunity to reflect Christ's love and values. I recall a colleague named James who was known for his exceptional work ethic and unwavering integrity. James was not outspoken about his faith, but his actions spoke volumes. He consistently went above and beyond in his duties, treated everyone with respect, and handled conflicts with grace and wisdom.

One day, our department faced a critical project that required everyone to put in extra hours. While many were stressed and frustrated, James remained calm and positive. He encouraged his team, offered help whenever needed, and ensured that everyone stayed focused. His behavior caught the attention of our manager, who was curious about James's source of strength and motivation. This led to a conversation where James shared his faith and how it guided his actions at work. The manager was inspired and expressed a desire to learn more about Christianity. This real-life example highlights how living out our faith can influence others and create opportunities for evangelism.

God's word reminds us of the importance of honoring God through our work. Colossians 3:23-24 says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." By approaching our work with excellence and integrity, we reflect Christ's character and glorify God. Matthew 5:16 encourages us, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Our actions and attitudes at work can be a powerful testimony to our faith. Ephesians 6:7-8 also emphasizes, "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free." As we represent Christ in the workplace, let us be diligent, respectful, and kind, knowing that our work is a reflection of our faith.

2 And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.

3 Then David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and mother come here with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

4 So he brought them before the king of Moab, and they dwelt with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.

5 Now the prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the stronghold; depart, and go to the land of Judah.” So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth.

15 And David said with longing, “Oh, that someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
16 So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. Nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out to the LORD.
17 And he said, “Far be it from me, O LORD, that I should do this! Is this not the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it.

David, while running from Saul who was determined to kill him, escaped to the cave of Adullam. There, all sorts of people were gathered to him those who were in distress, who were in debt, who were discontented. This was not a perfect group but David became their leader, more like a leader of outcasts and rebels.

It must have been difficult to lead these men because they were not perfect. However, the cave of Adullam was a training ground for David. He needed to learn how to lead the children of Israel who had antecedents of rebellion. These men eventually became the mighty men of David who did exploits. This says something of David's leadership ability. He could turn outcasts and rebels into mighty men without becoming influenced by them.

Beloved, you should not be quick to despise people who seemingly do not fit into societal molds. Some of those people are unrefined diamonds. If God puts you in a position to relate with them, ask Him to help you transform them into more responsible individuals. David, while being trained by God in the cave of Adullam, also trained these men to become men of war and they in turn were useful to him, in the wilderness and throughout his reign as king. They became his staunch loyalists because he had invested in them. They were even willing to give up their lives for him. They risked their lives to get water for David because he expressed his thirst, they refused to allow David to go to war against Absalom because they said he was worth ten thousand of them. They were willing to die protecting him (2 Samuel 18:3).

For every training you receive, God expects you to also train others. Every investment you make in other people will also come back to bless you. Today, make up your mind to positively influence those that come your way, whether or not they look responsible. The Lord will help you, in Jesus' name.

11 And Jonathan said to David, “Come, let us go out into the field.” So both of them went out into the field.

12 Then Jonathan said to David: “The LORD God of Israel is witness! When I have sounded out my father sometime tomorrow, or the third day, and indeed there is good toward David, and I do not send to you and tell you,

13 may the LORD do so and much more to Jonathan. But if it pleases my father to do you evil, then I will report it to you and send you away, that you may go in safety. And the LORD be with you as He has been with my father.

14 And you shall not only show me the kindness of the LORD while I still live, that I may not die;

15 but you shall not cut off your kindness from my house forever, no, not when the LORD has cut off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.”

16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, “Let the LORD require it at the hand of David’s enemies.”

17 Now Jonathan again caused David to vow, because he loved him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

2 Samuel 9:5-7

5 Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6 Now when Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?”
And he answered, “Here is your servant!”

7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 29th April, 2026.
We continue our discourse on David's loyalty. Yesterday, we saw how he remained loyal to his master, Saul. Today, we examine his loyalty to his friend, Jonathan. Jonathan had made a covenant with David to show kindness to his descendants because he knew that David was going to be king whether his father liked it or not.

Jonathan and Saul died in battle. David became king. But he did not forget his friend. He remained loyal to Jonathan, even in death. After the Lord had established him on the throne of Israel, he enquired if any was left of the house of Saul so he could show them kindness for Jonathan's sake. Then, Mephibosheth was brought to him and he indeed showed him kindness.

The truth is that David could have moved on with his life, enjoying his new status. After all, Jonathan was dead and there was none to compel him to do anything. However, David chose to honour the Lord's covenant between him and Jonathan and do his family good. Even when the Gibeonites asked for a sacrifice from Saul's house, David spared Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 21:1-7).

Beloved, this is instructive for us as believers today. Trustworthiness is a valuable trait that should be found in every believer. God, who is our Father in heaven, is trustworthy and the Bible enjoins us to be like Him (Matthew 5:48). You should learn to keep your promises to people. People should be able to rely on you because they know you are loyal. Christians ought to shine the light of Christ by being just, keeping their word and showing kindness. Believers ought not to be traitors. Examine yourself today. How loyal are you in your relationships? How faithful are you to your friends? Are you a backstabber? Can your friends vouch for you? Beloved, it is better to have a few loyal friends than to be surrounded by many hypocrites. May the Lord make you a loyal friend, not a hypocrite, in Jesus' name.

1 Samuel 24:1-22
1 Now it happened, when Saul had returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, “Take note! David is in the Wilderness of En Gedi.”

2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men from all Israel, and went to seek David and his men on the Rocks of the Wild Goats.

3 So he came to the sheepfolds by the road, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to attend to his needs. (David and his men were staying in the recesses of the cave.)

4 Then the men of David said to him, “This is the day of which the LORD said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, that you may do to him as it seems good to you.’ ” And David arose and secretly cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.

5 Now it happened afterward that David’s heart troubled him because he had cut Saul’s robe.

6 And he said to his men, “The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD’s anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.”

7 So David restrained his servants with these words, and did not allow them to rise against Saul. And Saul got up from the cave and went on his way.

8 David also arose afterward, went out of the cave, and called out to Saul, saying, “My lord the king!” And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed down.

9 And David said to Saul: “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘Indeed David seeks your harm’?

10 Look, this day your eyes have seen that the LORD delivered you today into my hand in the cave, and someone urged me to kill you. But my eye spared you, and I said, ‘I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD’s anointed.’

11 Moreover, my father, see! Yes, see the corner of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the corner of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor rebellion in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you hunt my life to take it.

12 Let the LORD judge between you and me, and let the LORD avenge me on you. But my hand shall not be against you.

13 As the proverb of the ancients says, Wickedness proceeds from the wicked.’ But my hand shall not be against you.

14 After whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? A dead dog? A flea?

15 Therefore let the LORD be judge, and judge between you and me, and see and plead my case, and deliver me out of your hand.”

16 So it was, when David had finished speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, “Is this your voice, my son David?” And Saul lifted up his voice and wept.

17 Then he said to David: “You are more righteous than I; for you have rewarded me with good, whereas I have rewarded you with evil.

18 And you have shown this day how you have dealt well with me; for when the LORD delivered me into your hand, you did not kill me.

19 For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him get away safely? Therefore may the LORD reward you with good for what you have done to me this day.

20 And now I know indeed that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.

21 Therefore swear now to me by the LORD that you will not cut off my descendants after me, and that you will not destroy my name from my father’s house.”

22 So David swore to Saul. And Saul went home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.

David, immediately after he was anointed, received his first assignment in the palace - to play the harp to make Saul feel better. Afterwards, Saul appointed him as captain over a thousand men. Scripture records that David behaved himself wisely (1 Samuel 18:5, 14-15).

Saul began to harbour animosity towards David after he killed Goliath because Saul thought David was out to take over his kingdom. As a result, he began to actively find ways of killing David. Saul tried at least twice to pin David to the wall with the javelin in his hand but David escaped. David informed Jonathan, Saul's son, of his father's plans and his need to escape. He eventually ran away from the palace to save his life.

David went into the wilderness and became captain over a band of worthless men. They roamed the bushes because they could not enter the city for fear of Saul. One would have expected David to kill Saul who had made him a fugitive in his land. But that wasn't the case. Twice, in 1 Samuel 24 and 1 Samuel 26, David, out of loyalty, refused to kill Saul or allow his men to. He looked beyond the man's failings and still honoured the oil on his head. Even after Saul and his sons were killed in battle, David did not gloat, he genuinely mourned his master (2 Samuel 1:17-27).

Beloved, I encourage you to learn from David. First, you need to be unshakably loyal to God, then, to His people. It is possible for your pastor or your leader to offend you despite his anointing but please, allow God to be the judge and the Righteous Judge would not fail you. Do not join the group of people who speak ill of or attack men of God. Allow God to be the judge over His church. May the Lord grant you understanding, in Jesus' name.

For believers, wherever they find themselves, serving the Lord does not start and end with just the work of the ministry or worship that we do in the church or church activities. It can be as simple as doing your job or business, helping a neighbour, or taking care of your family. When you approach these tasks with a mindset of joy and gratitude, you are serving the Lord with gladness. Every time you face a mundane or challenging task, you can say to yourself, "This is an opportunity to serve God." It is about having a heart of worship in the everyday moments, not just during formal church services. It is about being grateful to God for giving you the grace and opportunity to add some value wherever you are.

Our Fire Scripture says whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not just for your boss or leader, since you know that you will receive a reward from the Lord for everything you do. Remember, the Bible says in Romans 14:12: "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God." It means that everyone will be held accountable to God for their actions and decisions, no matter where and how. This passage is emphasising the kind of attitude with which we should serve: wholeheartedly, as if we are serving the Lord directly, not just people. Therefore, we need to turn the ordinary moments of our day into acts of joyful service to God. For example, while cooking dinner or working in your office, you have to serve with joy instead of seeing these activities as household or administrative chores. You need a heart of joy to serve faithfully and successfully anywhere and in any capacity to please God and be blessed by Him.

As believers, we are often taught about stewardship, but when it comes to financial stewardship, more caution is required. The stakes are higher because of the tendency to begin to view it as a personal asset. Scripture reminds us that everything we own, including money, belongs to God. While we trust God as our provider, biblical wisdom dictates planning for the future and saving responsibly. Proverbs 21:20 says, "There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up." It means that the wise manage their wealth well, but fools squander theirs. Joseph in Egypt (Genesis 41) is a powerful example; he saved during years of plenty to survive the famine. And God used him to preserve nations in the time of famine.

Honesty and integrity in financial dealings is another hallmark of good stewardship. God expects His people to conduct all financial matters, be it business, personal, or ministry, with integrity. A good steward must be transparent in all his financial dealings. Luke 16:10 says, "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much." Financial faithfulness in small matters shows your spiritual maturity and can lead to greater responsibility.

Trusting God as your provider shows your worth as a steward. True financial stewardship begins and ends with trusting God, not riches for security and provision (Philippians 4:19). Matthew 6:33 affirms that when we prioritise the kingdom of God and His righteousness, every other thing will be given to us as well. Let us be faithful stewards, generous in giving, wise in spending, prayerful in planning, and honest in all dealings so that God may be glorified through financial stewardship.

Financial stewardship is about managing God's resources in a way that furthers His kingdom and blesses others. In the Parable of the Talents, Jesus teaches that faithful servants are those who wisely invest and multiply what they were entrusted with, and they are handsomely rewarded. God desires us to use our resources wisely, to invest in His kingdom, and to care for others. A godly steward does not just give out of abundance but also out of love and obedience. The Bible teaches that everything we have belongs to God, and we are stewards (managers), not owners. Psalm 24:1 clearly states: "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." We are not owners but stewards, caretakers. This truth of the Scripture should determine how we view money, wealth, giving, saving, and spending. A faithful steward manages money with integrity, purpose, and a heart aligned with God's kingdom.

The Bible gives clear guidance on how to handle our finances:

Stewardship includes generous and cheerful giving to support God's work and meet the needs of others. Giving breaks the power of greed and keeps our hearts fixed on heaven. Malachi 3: 10 instructs us to bring our tithes and offerings into the storehouse that there may be food in the house of God, and 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 encourages us to sow bountifully, for God loves a cheerful giver. Therefore, giving for showmanship does not reflect godly stewardship but pride and wastefulness.

We must also avoid debt and live within our means. The Bible cautions against debt, not because borrowing is always a sin, but because it can bring bondage. Proverbs 22:7 says that the borrower is a slave to the lender. Wise stewards plan, budget, and make sacrifices to live within their means, honouring God with financial discipline.
