1 Samuel 17:31-50
[31] Now when the words which David spoke were heard, they reported them to Saul; and he sent for him.

[32] Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”

[33] And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”

[34] But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock,

[35] I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.

[36] Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.”

[37] Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

[38] So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail.

[39] David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off.

[40] Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine.

[41] So the Philistine came, and began drawing near to David, and the man who bore the shield went before him.

[42] And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him; for he was only a youth, ruddy and good-looking.

[43] So the Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

[44] And the Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!”

[45] Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

[46] This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

[47] Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

[48] So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

[49] Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.

[50] So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.

The most popular story about David in the Bible is probably the one about his encounter with Goliath. The Philistine giant had been boasting against the Israelite army and nobody, including King Saul, could do anything. When Jesse sent David to the battlefield, he thought he was sending him to deliver food to his brothers but he really was launching him into destiny.

David heard the Philistine boast and he decided to take action despite his eldest brother's rebuke. When David stood before Saul, he told him of how he had killed a lion and a bear that had come against a lamb in his flock. David was bold because he had tested God in the wilderness and he had an assurance. If God did not fail you in the wilderness, He definitely would not fail you on the battlefield.

Saul armed him with his armour but he couldn't move so he went for the familiar sling and stones. The lesson here is profound. You do not use untested weapons on the battlefield. If you haven't been grooming your spirit through exercises like prayer, fasting, word study, you will not be able to stand on the day of battle. That is why Paul encourages believers to always put on the whole armour of God and stand (Ephesians 6:11-13).

More interesting is the dialogue between David and Goliath. It is important to confess your victory with your mouth, no matter the size of the enemy facing you. David told Goliath that he had come against him in the name of the Lord, and that he would kill him. That was exactly what happened. God worked through those stones and silenced the wicked enemy.

Beloved, refuse to be bullied into silence; refuse to confess negatively. Rather, proclaim the name of Jesus over every situation and watch your enemies put to shame. If you are ever threatened by a wicked personality, do not cower in fear; reply them and return their threat in the name of Jesus. The Lord will strengthen you to cut off the head of every Goliath that rises against you, in Jesus' name.

There are some qualities that distinguish a Christian from others in the world of business, career, ministry, etc. These qualities are: integrity, stewardship, servant leadership, and a commitment to honouring God in all aspects of the business, career, or ministry. Every true believer must operate in every area of life in alignment with these Biblical principles and values. Integrity is honesty in all its ramifications. It is being truthful in all your dealings and avoiding every form of deceit. It means honouring all agreements and commitments. A true believer must show a good example wherever he finds himself, whether he is a leader, a teammate or a follower. We must remember that God sees the intent of our hearts and knows all that we do if they are hidden from men by whatever means. Proverbs 5:21 says, "For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings." You need to run your business in such a way that it will glorify God, not just to make money. In all that we do, the Bible enjoins us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and every other thing will be added to us. It is an aberration to wear a different garb when it comes to business as a Christian. That would be pure hypocrisy. I have seen many Christian businessmen who say, "This is business, let's put the Bible aside; business is business." This is very wrong because Christians live on Biblical principles always and in all things.

Beloved, please do not copy the wolves in sheep's clothing in the midst. Be a showpiece of God even in your business or workplace. The Lord is looking for those who will stand with Him at all times. Can He count on you?

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 25th February, 2026.

The devil has one weapon with which he easily finishes unwary believers. That is the weapon of anxiety. What is anxiety? It is the feeling of being very worried about the issues of life. Many people get so worried over situations and circumstances that they become sick, tired and unproductive. Some end up losing their minds out of hopelessness. Believers in Christ are not supposed to have this kind of attitude, but the devil ensures that he gets them to that point where they see impossibility instead of possibility. They think it is all over when God is yet to start with them because they have not given Him a chance to do so.

Psalm 23:1-6 puts it succinctly; it says, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

A good understanding of the above Scripture will put your mind at rest as a child of God concerning any challenge that you may be facing. Verse 4 is a great solace to us and it says, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

MFM Daily Devotional Message Tuesday, 24th February, 2026.

In a world filled with anxiety, uncertainty, and conflict, the Word of God offers us a deep and lasting peace that surpasses understanding, according to our Fire Scriptures. This peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of God. It is that peace which you have regardless of the situations and circumstances around you. The first question is, do you have the peace of God? I don't know your answer to this question, but the truth of the matter is that not many people are enjoying the peace of God because they cannot find it. This brings us to the second question, which is, how do I access the peace of God? The Bible provides clear guidance on how to receive and walk in this peace:

The first is faith in Jesus Christ. Accessing the peace of God involves a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, accepting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour, living in obedience to His Word, and trusting Him in every situation. That is the foundation of inner peace. The second is prayer. Bringing your fears to God through prayer leads to His peace. Philippians 4:6-7 shows that peace is a result of trust through prayer and not by ourselves.

The third is trusting God's control. Isaiah 26:3 says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." True peace comes from trusting in God at all times. If you focus on God rather than your problems, you will remain peaceful. The fourth is walking in the spirit. Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, which grows as you submit to Him (Galatians 5:22-23). The more you walk with the Spirit (Galatians 5:16), the more peace you will experience.

The fifth is living righteously. Peace often comes through obedience to God's ways according to Psalm 119:165: "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." The sixth is allowing Christ rule your heart. We are called to let peace rule our lives (Colossians 3:15).

Here, peace isn't just something we receive; it is something we allow to guide our decisions and attitudes.

In these last days aptly described as the perilous times, if there is a spiritual gift every Believer should seriously pray to receive, it is the gift of the discerning of spirits. This gift is needed more at this time because of the increase in demonic activities wrapped with vicious heightened subtlety. The intelligence by which satanic agents and wicked demonic operators carry out their nefarious activities in these last days is superlative, it takes the Holy Spirit through the operation of the gift we are considering in our devotional today to survive these evil schemes.

In the encounter of Apostle Paul with the damsel operating with the spirit of divination, otherwise known as python spirit, as recorded in Acts chapter sixteen, it took the operation of the gift of discerning of spirits in the life of Paul to deal with the situation. The damsel, following Apostle Paul and his company, was able to camouflage for some days, proclaiming without any flaw the glorious assignment of Paul and his group. "The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation" (Acts 16:17).

The damsel was able to camouflage for some days because the Bible says the devil can also transform as an angel of light and his agents as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:14-15) until the Holy Spirit let out her real identity. The discerning of spirits is the gift of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Believer that enables him pinpoint the type of spirit that is in operation at a given time or place, so as to be able to determine whether the spirit is of God or of the devil.

Beloved, if you do not want to be deceived, oppressed, tormented, afflicted or exploited in any form by demonic spirits and satanic agents in these last days, you need to ask for the operation of this gift in your life. But you need to accept Jesus Christ and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit before you can become a beneficiary of this beautiful gift.

[47] And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

[48] Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

[49] So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”

[50] And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.

[51] So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”

[52] Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Sunday, 22nd February, 2026.

Today, we would wrap up our series on great faith with the story of Bartimaeus. This man was blind but his ears were not closed. He heard that Jesus was passing by and raised his voice to call on Him. This man kept shouting, ignoring all those who asked him to keep quiet, until he got Jesus' attention. The first lesson to learn is that you should never let anyone or anything silence your faith. People may laugh at you because they think your answers haven't manifested, they may even tell you that your faith is useless. Never let anyone discourage your faith before you see your results. Human beings are fickle; the same people who tried to shut Bartimaeus up were the same people who told him that Jesus was calling for him.

Bartimaeus understood the covenant origin of Jesus and addressed Him as Son of David. How well do you know your God? What covenant do you stand on when you make your requests to God? Do you stand on your own righteousness or the finished works of Christ? Beloved, I advise you to make your requests in the name of Jesus, standing on His finished works.

When Jesus eventually called for him, he cast away his garment. He cast aside anything that could hinder him. Beloved, when you come to God, you should cast aside everything that can stand in the way of your faith and walk with God. Shut out the voices of the world and your challenges; focus on Jesus alone.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this story is that Jesus told Bartimaeus, "Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole." It was his faith that made him whole. Then, he followed Jesus.

Your faith has the ability to move God to act on your behalf, your faith has the ability to heal you and make you whole. When you have received your miracles, you should remember to give God the glory because He did it.

[5] When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”

[6] And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts,

[7] “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

[8] But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?

[9] Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’?

[10] But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic,

[11] “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

MFM Daily Devotional Message Saturday, 21st February, 2026.

We move forward in our series on great faith. Today, we will examine another kind of faith - the faith that never gives up or stubborn faith. Four friends bring their paralytic friend to Jesus in hopes of getting healing.

On getting to the house where Jesus is, the crowd is so large that there is no room for them to go through. These guys refuse to be discouraged. They proceed to open the roof of the house and lower their friend right at the feet of Jesus. Now, Jesus just has to notice them. There's a great lesson here: you have to keep knocking on heaven's door until you are noticed and given an answer. Do not be discouraged by the fact that others are getting speedy answers while there seems to be no way for you. It might just be that you need to take a radical step of faith like opening the roof, or making a vow like Hannah did (1 Samuel 1:11).

The first statement Jesus made to the man was, "Son, thy sins be forgiven thee" (v. 5). Could his sins have placed him in that situation? Beloved, sin can hinder the effectiveness of your faith. You need to repent and confess before you actually move God with your faith.

Jesus went ahead to heal the man, not minding the dissenting scribes.

Beloved, God can do all things when we have faith in Him. Learn from this story of the paralytic and his friends. Surround yourself with the right company, people who will build your faith and lead you to Jesus, not people who will discourage you and suggest ungodly solutions. You yourself should learn to have radical faith, the kind of faith that holds on to God, saying, "If you don't bless me, you're not going anywhere." May your faith be strengthened for uncommon results, in the name of Jesus.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Friday, 20th February, 2026.

Today, we continue our series on great faith. In our Fire Scripture, we read the story of the woman with the issue of blood. There are lessons to learn from this woman's demonstration of faith.

The Bible tells us that she had spent a lot of money on physicians but she only grew worse. This is the situation of many people today. They have tried every means possible to find solutions but they have failed because they are yet to come to God. If you are in this situation, your answer lies in your faith. Stop putting your faith in men and technology, start putting your faith in Christ.

This woman, unlike the Canaanite woman and the centurion, was most likely a Jew. This means she was part of God's covenant people, a daughter of Abraham. She had a right to receive her healing and she leveraged it.

One very fascinating thing is that this woman's faith was audacious. She was willing to take the risk to get what she wanted. She must have weighed her options. Considering that she had an issue of blood, she was ceremonially unclean and therefore unfit to be in the midst of people, else, she would pollute them. She could have stayed back in her house mourning her lot, but she refused. She took the risk of joining the crowd but with a different purpose. In the end, she received her healing and she was acknowledged by Jesus. Her faith made her whole!

Beloved, are you in a difficult situation? Perhaps it is time to build your faith to the level of audaciousness. You do not even have to hide behind the crowd like this woman; you can approach Jesus directly through prayer. Step out boldly in faith, believing what Jesus has accomplished for you and acting in line with this reality. May your faith give you your miracles, in Jesus' name.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Thursday, 19th February, 2026.

Today, we read another interesting story of faith. The centurion came to ask Jesus to heal his servant. Luke's account states that the man sent his friends because he did not count himself worthy while Matthew's account says he came by himself.

Just like the Canaanite woman we saw yesterday, this centurion was also a stranger. In fact, he could be termed an oppressor because he was serving the Roman army that had occupied Israel at the time. The Romans were Gentiles; they were not part of the Jewish covenant. Despite all of these, he still reached for Jesus. He did not let the seeming disadvantages hinder him. Men may consider you unworthy for whatever reason, you yourself may even have a low self-esteem. But the truth is that God will hear you if you can just build up enough faith to call on Him. God hears the prayer of all His children, not just the pastors. This story proves that everyone who genuinely believes is welcome in God's kingdom.

This centurion understood authority as seen in his speech to Jesus. He himself had one hundred men under him and he didn't need to be present for his words to carry power. He applied the same principle when he sought Jesus for his servant's healing. He knew that Jesus had authority so He could simply speak the word and his servant would be healed. Herein lies a great lesson for us today. God does not have to come down from heaven before you believe Him. The word of God is all you need and you have access to that word through the Bible. Make it a regular practice to ask the Lord for a word concerning every situation of your life.

Beloved, you need to build up your faith to the point where you don't have to run from prophet to prophet, seeking a miracle. You need to come to the point where you can receive a word from God and hold on to that word because you know the power it carries. May the Lord increase your faith, in Jesus' name.

MFM Daily Devotional Message Wednesday, 18th February, 2026.

Faith moves mountains; it makes the impossible possible. Faith means believing that God can do something and holding on to Him until He does it. Jesus already said that even the tiniest faith, faith as small as a mustard seed, can move God to act.

We consider the Canaanite woman today as one who demonstrated great faith. In our fire scripture, we see that Jesus entered the region of Tyre and Sidon, a Gentile territory, where a Canaanite woman pestered Him to heal her demon possessed daughter. The first interesting fact to note is that Jesus initially appeared to ignore her. There are times when you pray and it feels like God is ignoring you because there's seemingly no response. In such moments, faith demands that you stay persistent. Take a cue from this Canaanite woman.

The next thing to note is that she saluted Him as "Son of David," revealing her understanding of His covenant origin. When you come to God in prayer, your faith is strengthened because you know the One who has promised to hear you when you call. Even though there are distracting voices like the disciples' who urged Jesus to send the woman away, you remain focused.

Jesus' next response is puzzling. He told her that His healing virtue was for the children of Israel, not strangers like her. This statement did not deter this woman; rather, she matched Jesus' wit by saying that she was willing to get the crumbs from the children's table. Her faith was so strong that she believed that even the crumbs, the leftover of the anointing, would do. This humble response, along with her worship, impressed Jesus. He commented, "O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt" (v. 28) Her persistent faith paid off.

Beloved, faith is a heavenly currency. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you should grow in your faith. If this woman, who was considered a "stranger," could receive from Jesus through her persistent faith, how much more you, who have been accepted in the beloved? Think about this!
